RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Show Your Alaskan Rig

Here's my 94' C/O on a 92' Chevy utility. It was custom ordered and set up by a nasa scientist as his retirement present. After his passing it was sold to me by his brother that did not like camping. Every detail was thought of and works great. Here are a couple pictures from the Sequoias...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can anyone recommend a few spots for western side of Sierras?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Ended up going to Cold Springs in the Sequoias- Highly recommended, it is a 2-3 hour one lane road that is not accessible to rv's with great scenery and isolated campgrounds. Then to Big Sur, we got the nicest spot at Kirk Creek, explored the Los Padres and the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can anyone recommend a few spots for western side of Sierras?

Thanks for the great suggestions. We will be traveling from northern San Diego and have the week. We really have no itinerary other than the week to relax and get home. We are still deciding between the western slope, eastern sierras, north coastal redwoods, and Big Sur. There is so much...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can anyone recommend a few spots for western side of Sierras?

After exploring the Eastern Sierras the past half dozen or so years, we were thinking of looking for some solitude on the western side this fall. I have never been on this side and was wondering if anyone could recommend some spots? Our favorite spots on the east side (that are more well...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West back to a one alaskan owner

"even my wife(who gave me the scowl when i first brought it home)shed a tear."- All my campers have gotten the same "warm..." welcoming from my wife also, but when I sell them it sometimes takes a day before she'll even speak to me again. She (they) get very attached after having the good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nice setup for restoration in Corona ca

That's what I was thinking when I looked at it. I have the offset model on my utility body that would be almost impossible to use on a regular truck bed. Nice combo though. You know he's never gonna sell that camper alone and would probably go down in price.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper insurance

Why wouldn't they pay what it's insured for? This is the payout that I was quoted for by my agent for theft as we (and probably most of us) leave our camper in the boonies before we even start hiking to our favorite spots where it is vulnerable to theft. $7-11K for camper and $3K for contents+...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper insurance

Just got my truck and camper insured for theft and was surprised at the value. According to Farmers, a 1994 (depending on condition) is valued at $7,000-$11,000 for camper alone excluding contents. I thought that was pretty good considering I only paid $4500 for the whole truck/camper setup...

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's part of the "pressurizing" problem.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cabover lifting while driving, anyone else?

Thanks. I talked to Brian at Alaskan and he said they are now installing exterior locks/pins to keep it down. Between having the cab/camper slider open for the dogs and the high winds I think I will just make an interior lockdown device for piece of mind.

The little 2 prong ones fit in the dinette light fixtures, if you need to, you can just clip the prongs off an 1/8" to get the covers on. Mine fit without trimming. The "stick on" ones for the kitchen and porch can simply be hard wired and all the different bases thrown in the trash. On my...

Thanks, I couldn't find the picture in the gallery. I posted about 3 too many the other day... I replaced the seals with some Home Depot garage door seals so that just may have something to do with it also. I tried to get the pirelli but couldn't use a credit card to buy them from Alaskan...
