RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Atwood Heater and propane usage.

So a gallon of Propane has 91,452 BTUs / hr. Our Atwood furnace uses 16,000 BTU / hr input. The normal 20# tank holds about 4.2gal. 91452 x 4.2 ÷ 16,000 (use your number here) = 24 hours of running time heater only. Your mileage may vary! We also use ours for cooking and hot water. With no...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof latches

I was glad to seal and re-drill holes as the original holes egged out (slightly rotted) and screws rusty. It occurs to me that the threads are only used for initial adjustment. With proper adjustment it would be ok to remove and paint the threads! breaking the paint only at the necessary...

Ouch! I hate to hear of injuries esp. when having "fun". I get it about ladders but decided against early on. I want to duck out of the pop-up TC to a fixed (to the truck+camper) set up, then compensate or any ground variance once out and up. We have a shelf outside (to allow empty hands)...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting a Propane tank on rear ext. wall ?

I just spoke to my Propane supplier who said for a non-connected tank, the only regulation they have for transport is that it be secured and vertical (valve not flooded with liquid). Being connected (valve open) may be the difference with location of tank.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting a Propane tank on rear ext. wall ?

Good Topic! I have been looking all over for: 1. reliable gauge for the onboard tank - use and AM frost is best on trail. Scale (weight) is the only other reliable way that I have found. 2. Place to "scuttle" another common 20# tank. We have run out several times in the cold of the night with...

Our TC has a small black tank...When it has to go... IT HAS to GO! Then we find internet connection, search various apps, locate a dump station and drive to it = Stress. Then we often pay $10-$15 (more stress) the same as 40 gallon gooseneck trailers to loose 7-8 gallons through a 3" hose...
