RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Corrosion Issues/Help

Thanks for the Ospho recommendation. I remembered this product as I was doing some research. The rest of the screws look good and the problem only seems to be along the lower trim. I am in your camp of thinking that the previous owner/owners left the camper on over the winter and the dreaded...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Corrosion Issues/Help

Craig, Thanks for the response. Yes, I am in VA and am the 3rd owner of the camper. I personally have removed the camper over the winter but I can't speak for the other owners. From what I have seen while completing maintenance, they were not as particular as I am. I completely agree that the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Corrosion Issues/Help

Well, I started to prep to paint the underside tonight and knew that I have a bit of corrosion under the rear door on my 2011 Fleet so I decided to remove the trim and have a look. AHHHHHH, worse than I thought. It appears that when FWC installed the siding they used staples (steel?) to hold the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar connector mount

Craig, Looks like great minds think alike. I purchase the same MC4 connection before I found this post. I was wondering though what size screw did you use to attach it to the roof? I was just going to use 3M 4000 to "glue" it down but the roof flexes so much I really think it needs a few screws...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Swift Camper, Mods, Upgrades Etc......Pic Heavy.

I am really torn between the Eezi-Awn and Alu-Cab. I really like how the Eezi-Awn covers the whole rear door but the Alu-Cab seems stronger. I have a couple quick questions on the Eezi-Awn if you don't mind. Is your Eezi-Awn the "silver" color? In the FWC video, it appears that the hinge has...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gluing Yakima Tracks to roof

Thanks for all of the input. What all of you have said makes complete sense. I will just go the AM Solar route now and add the tracks later with screws if I deem it necessary.

Excellent thoughts and exactly why I posted the question as I had not thought that. Thanks, Rando.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gluing Yakima Tracks to roof

Thanks for the input. Which VHB did you use? I saw the AM Solar mounts but I like the idea of being able to add more later without needing to glue more mounts. Yeah, I agree that it should be good but I hate relying on "should be good".

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gluing Yakima Tracks to roof

I would really like to have the versatility of Yakima tracks on my roof but I am extremely leary to add additional holes to the roof. I work in the maritime world and have used 3M 5200 before and it is tenacious when it comes to grip. Can anyone see a reason why some VHB tape 5200 would NOT work...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Foxwing 270 awning

I find it strange that they “stand behind” the Manta but say that the Shadow is the best. This may have something to do with Paul May (awesome dude and shop) being a FWC and Eezi Awn dealer as well as the importer for them. From watching a few videos the Manta hinge seems to be weak and deflect...

Tree, this is exactly what I want to install instead of my incandescents. Did you pull off the panels from the inside to wire?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Foxwing 270 awning

A guy who was (he has since sold his Fleet for a Sprinter) on here by the name of Broverlanding mounted his Alu Cab with 2x3 angle aluminum to the jack brackets. I will be doing the same thing with an Alu Cab 270 once spring gets closer and the camper is out of storage. The Alu Cabs do great in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plasti Dip Roof?

It looks like Durabak offers a "smooth" option now. I ordered some for the underside of my Fleet and will test on some scrap plywood once it arrives and report back.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plasti Dip Roof?

I was thinking more of the paint being not permanent but that is a very good question when considering what to use. Can you tell me if it came out smooth or textured (like rough bed liner)? You are definitely pushing me toward the Raptor and calling it done. I ordered some Durabak for the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Dollie

Great info. Thanks, Craig! I think I am going to build one that is 2x4 with 4x4 on ends and middle with wheels that are 8". This should give me a total of 13.5-14" of height. Hoping that is still low enough.....we will see.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suspension for 2017 Tacoma and FWC Fleet Shell

Good to know. I am in need of new shocks and was gonna go that route but now I think I'm just gonna go with Nitrocharger Sports. Apples to Oranges but a lot cheaper and possibly more reliable.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plasti Dip Roof?

Thanks for all of the options guys. One of the main reasons I am headed down the Plasti Dip route is that it is not permanent. I saw the Raptor option and I think that I may have to look into that a bit more.

Can anyone tell me what is the lowest I can build a dolly? Our garage is rather short/small and I am trying to be able to keep it popped in storage.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plasti Dip Roof?

Technically yes but they have a sprayable form now. I painted my wife's car wheels and my rear bumper with it at it has held up awesome. If you don't like it or damage it you can peel it off. Check out dipyourcar.com. People are painting whole cars with it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Plasti Dip Roof?

I may be setting myself up to get hammered here but I am in the beginning stages of conducting my spring maintenance. I have fought some minor leaks since buying a used Fleet. I believe one of the major issues was the aluminum roof rack FWC installed. I removed that last spring and filled the...
