RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West **SOLD** 2012 Toyota Tundra 4x4 / 1998 Four Wheel Camper Hawk - $28,500

I’m selling my Four Wheel Camper Hawk model. It is a 1998 standard model (not a shell) that fits full size trucks with a 6.5’ bed. The camper looks its age but has solid bones and hasn’t caused me any trouble in the 6 years I’ve had it. The only reason I’m selling it is that our growing family...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SuperSprings vs. Air Bags - FWC Hawk

I'll weigh in with my experience with my 2012 Tundra DC with a Hawk. I am running Icon leaf spring packs, Airlift airbags with daystar cradles, and Bilstein 5100 shocks all around, with the spring perch on the middle height setting in the front. Truck sits about as raked as stock except 1.5"...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help me Trouble Shoot my 2 Way ISOTHERM Fridge Problem!

I had something similar to this happen due to a bad battery that wasn't holding a charge. During the day the solar panel was supplying enough power the fridge was fine, but it would shut down every night. Finally diagnosed it by letting the batter charge fully with the fridge off, then turning...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nothing but the truth - airbag question

I have the airlift bags on my 2012 Tundra, and would recommend going with Firestone. Airlift air bags do have an internal bump stop. They also have plastic end caps, which becomes the point of failure when the bag limits droop and you pull the metal thread inserts out of the end plate - ask me...

I have a pair of cable tripod jacks you can have, located in Ventura though.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Other than dealers word how do I know what PLY my tires are?

You're good - BF Goodrich P/N 62023 is an E load range tire.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED bulb for porch light

I just bought one of these to replace my (not working) exterior light on my '99 Hawk - looks to be a direct replacement. May be similar to what the factory is using now? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075YR4YNP

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West State of Charge Monitor (Blue Sea?)

Not to side track too much, but how is the Bluetooth monitoring interface? Hard to find any info online. I like the idea of being able to keep an eye on what the battery system is doing without getting into the camper, since it's my daily driver as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vandenberg area for a SpaceX launch

I'm another 30 miles south of Alley-Kat, in Ventura. We still get a pretty good show from the launches. I keep thinking to try to make it up to Serra Cross park for a launch, you'd have a good view of it all the way up, but its too far away to get much of the sound. I think you could see the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

Figures they wouldn't warranty their bags when installed in a way they didn't design them for. Also they have a point that the Daystar cradle takes up about an inch of height, and could potentially lead to the bags being compressed more than designed to. Then again Firestone air bags don't...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help. Where do we put the baby?

We've used a PeaPod up on the cab over bed. It lets us put our son to bed early, then we can hang out around the campfire for a few more hours and feel secure that he won't roll off the bed. Once we go to bed we usually take turns sleeping up to with him, which the other sleeps on the couch...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

Yeah I was disappointed that the bags failed on the first trip. They really are a solid improvement to the stability on and off road with the camper on my truck, and I'm happy enough with how the Daystar cradles are holding up so far. They've been on the truck for ~6k miles now, never had a bag...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

I installed Daystar cradles on my Tundra with AirLift bags after I pulled the thread inserts out of the top of one bag during the first off road trip. So far the cradles have worked as intended. The only downside, and this may be specific to my application, is that since my bump stops are inside...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Custom Truck Bed Build Options

I like what you're doing with this bed design a lot, its giving me all kinds of bad ideas. Every great fabricator learned their craft by doing what you're doing, keep up the good work.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted : Rent or Buy Jacks

Its stable enough to lift, drive the truck out, and lower onto some sawhorses. Definitely helps to have a second person to help. I am upgrading to corner jacks because I want to be able to remove and install the camper on the truck by myself, and they are a lot more stable.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted : Rent or Buy Jacks

I'm going to have a paid of tripod cable jacks available just as soon as I finish mounting the corner jacks I just bought Functional but not pretty, would work fine for what you want to do. They look like this, not sure what brand they are though...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lift Assist cylinders Hawk with brake light ?

My thought too - I took a picture of mine last night, I mounted them out far enough to miss the rain gutter, and I think they could have been even further outboard.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lift Assist cylinders Hawk with brake light ?

Some additional Part Numbers since you asked. I used the 30# struts on my Hawk, and its borderline too much lift. Can make getting the front to lower tricky, but it makes raising almost hands free. I've found the 'turn on the fan and close the door' trick to work well for me. 36", 30#: Suspa...
