RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing Ice Box with 2 Way Fridge

I recently removed the ice box from my Hawk and put a 45L Norcold portable compressor fridge in the same spot. It sticks out a bit more than the ice box, but it's still within the foot print of the lower cabinet. I also removed the framework and drawer surrounding the ice box to open the space...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me grandby

97grandby, Hi. I read your post about the vent, and it got me thinking. I recently put a portable compressor fridge in the spot my ice chest was in, and was concerned about the trapped heat. I just took the cabinet surround out, giving me plenty of air space, so it shouldn't be an issue. I've...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removing the extra 3" of floor pack on a Hawk

Wuck, Thanks for the link. It looks like it should be fairly simple to remove. I sent DirtyDog a message to see if he removed the false bottom on his Hawk, and if he had anything to add. Thanks again.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removing the extra 3" of floor pack on a Hawk

I have an '07 Hawk I picked up last year. I learned through this site that I own a Hawk designed for another truck, with 3" added to the floor to fit over the side rails/cab of certain trucks. Having seen other trucks with "normal" fitting Hawks, I was thinking I may try and remove the extra...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extra Fuel Carry Options?

Has anyone used a flexible fuel bladder to carry spare fuel? I'm looking for a small spare fuel carrier for my generator. While researching options, I came across a similar bladder that's popular in Australia, and I came across the bladder in the link below on eBay. More expensive than the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What options are recommended for new Fleet shell owner?

I recently picked up a Norcold 40 Qt compressor fridge on Craigslist for my Hawk. I removed the old icebox, the cabinet face and upper drawer to give me room to open the lid and access the contents. I'm hoping the extra space will provide enough clearance for good air circulation. I also found...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper step

I have a Ram 2500 and I bought a Rubbermaid 2-step stool at my local big box store. It works great but does take up a bit of room in the camper. I had also looked at the Range Kleen SS2 folding step. It folds flat for storage, but it's also about an inch shorter (17.5" vs. 18.8"), so while I...

strayDog, Have you tried a mister clean magic eraser? I use it on all kinds of surfaces, plastic, metal, etc. and it works great. Just be aware it can scratch or dull some shiny surfaces.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck rolled back, major damage and lots of questions

I don't know about your insurance company, but USAA guarantees its repairs, so it would seem in their best interest to ensure it was done right the first time. Otherwise, they may end up paying for additional and costly repairs. If they wont pay to have it looked over it might be worth getting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How centered is your camper?

I like my camper centered as well, definitely OCD! I usually just lower the camper so it's about an inch or two above the bed and push it over to center and lower the jack. Works great. I only move it at most an inch, well within the normal side-to-side flex of the jacks.

I bought reflectix and while trying to put it in place I had concerns about it being too stiff and decided against it. I think I'll use It for the windows and under the upper bunk. I appreciate the comments. There's a used Wave 3 on eBay, but it was bought from an estate sale, so no history and no cover. Having read the comments about dust buildup on the heating surface I decided it's not worth the risk. Sent from my iPad using Wander The West

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting Wave 3 in Hawk

MarkBC - Thanks for the reply. My main concern was the 6 being too big heat wise, as I would use it mainly to knock off the chill when the temperature drops below 40. The 6 sounds like it would work, but the physical size does concern me. I usually have my Son with me, so space is tight. I...

I've read this post and many others, I've checked the website, but I couldn't find much about the different sized Wave heaters. I have a chance to buy a like new used Wave 6, but I'm concerned it may be too big for my Hawk. Should I stick with a 3 or can the 6 be dialed down low enough to keep...

Iowahiker, I think you are correct. I have about three inches of siding below the door. Bwht4x4, And your picture confirms that I have a higher sitting camper. Craig333, If you mean that it looks like it sits higher in the front, mine is the same way. I know it's level on the bed, but it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A question on a Hawk on a 3rd Gen Ram

I read Atl-Atl's topic and it got me wondering about my truck and Hawk. I have a 2006 Ram with bed side rails that are 20-1/2" tall and my 2007 Hawk sits about 4"-5" above the bedrails and cab. I tried searching for members with similar set ups and went through 30 + pages of random FWC photos...
