RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Thermal Pack

I have wondered the same thing. I am a fly fisherman. The material used to make Simms Waders is breathable and heavy duty. However, it still does not entirely eliminate condensation. Winter fishing in very cold water still produces some dampness inside. It is probably very expensive though.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Thermal Pack

Understand Northern British Columbia, Canadian conditions are extreme. Sometimes solid rain and freezing. I provided as much cross ventilation as possible and minimized heat. I even tried not using the heat. When I did get a sunny day everything was opened up, wiped down and all bedding to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC mattress update

After 20 minutes in my new Hawk I had to go get the Thermarest inflatable camp bed to go to sleep. The next day I started researching options and ordered a new mattress. I decided to purchase a mattress from mattressinsider.com. It was a 4" laminated memory foam with the first 1" layer 0412...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Thermal Pack

I just recently returned from two months (September and October) in northern BC, Canada. I have a Hawk with a Thermal Arctic Pack. The weather that time of year is both high humidity and cold. Nights get to freezing once in a while. I have no experience with my camper without the Thermal Pack...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

Okay, so pulled the Ford camera from the tailgate handle and removed the pigtail. With camper in place dropped the spare tire drilled a hole in the sheet metal to accept the camera lens and also the fasters (see picture). Picked up a piece scrap of 1/2" acrylic and drilled a hole in in to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F-250 & FWC Hawk,.. Do I need bags or helpers?

I just took delivery of a Hawk on my 2011, F-250, 6.7 PowerStroke. The dry camper put it down on the rear springs just under an inch. Loaded and wet maybe 1.5". The truck seems to handle it well. No wind experience yet. I do intend to do quite a lot of both highway, logging road and off...

Thank you photohc and all! I have removed and remounted the ford tailgate camera into the sheet metal just above the license plate and below the camper door threshold. My camper will pretty much live on my truck but I did it so that the process can be reversed if I want to sell the truck. My...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

I took a brief look (not study) and it appears to do what I am after. Thank you much for your reply. My camper install is on the 15th. I am going to wait to get ti on board before I proceed further. Whatever, I end up doing, I will take pictures and get back here to advise all who have helped.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Supporting the Grandby?

I am new to truck campers and will take delivery of a new Hawk in a month or so. Okay, so it never dawned on me that I could not jack the camper free of the truck if I was going to be someplace for a while. I did not know the floor was not structural? So what sort of on-the-road solutions do...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

Thanks everyone. I am going to get the Hawk put to bed and then figure out the best answer. Right now, based upon what I know, I am thinking that I will purchase a replacement Ford camera, rig a different mount just above the license plate and then make a ford plug to ford plug connection...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

Riverrunner, thanks did that. There are options, but all require either tapping into the rear wiring loom, which will negate the navigation/audio/video system warranty, or mounting another monitor in the cab so the system is separate and apart from the ford system. That being the case, will...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West solar panel mount on yakima racks

This is some great information! I just ordered a Hawk with one factory panel, but not delivered yet. I also ordered the Yakima 10 foot tracks thinking that could use them for a second panel. I know solar panels are way more efficient (greater output) if they ventilate from underneath to stay...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

Thanks for the help. I was just hoping someone here would say, oh yeah just buy this camera and it plugs right into the ford plug and go hook up your boat. I would think it to be a pretty common transition that some third party could make a buck doing. How many truck campers and/or fifth...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

I have a Hawk FWC scheduled for delivery in a couple of weeks. It will go on my 2011 F-250 Lariat 6.7L Power-stroke Diesel 6 3/4 truck bed. I am told that the tailgate will need to be removed. Because the factory backup camera is located in the handle of the tailgate, so goes the camera. My...
