Thanks for the info. We researched the Plains and definitely will do some exploration there. We have had a few bad experiences camping on weekends/holidays anywhere within a few hours drive of a city in CA. But..we were tenting then and it is much easier to move with the FWC if things get dicey.

On the long haul from SC spotted zero FWC until this afternoon between Winnemucca & Elko. It was heading east around 3 PM while we were heading west for Hawk p.u. in Woodland this week. daygreeter

We drove 80 from Evanston, WY to Winnemucca, NV today. All clear except for high winds and snow squalls. daygreeter
