The route to Hoover Lake doesn't look bad on Google maps but that assumption has gotten me in trouble before. F&G stock this lake by truck, so it can't be that bad. DD, take note. There is a big advantage to Marc's suggestion. I can take a route through Santa Rosa and pick up a growler or two...

Nice work! Any chance we can get some more info on the flatbed as well? Pictures of the tool boxes, etc. How much does just the flatbed cost per chance? Thanks That Flatbed configuration is about $9700 installed. But you are welcome to source your own deck. There are some minimum dimension...

I am flexible on any date. Howard Lake in Mendocino looks like a fun spot as well. Last time i went the gates were locked; so i never made it up there. It's a trek in; but you could work your way from 101 all the way to the 5. Seems like a fun Mini expedition we all could do. 4x4 is a must...

There's a lot to like about your camper Marc - nice work! I really like the idea of being able to stow gear on the roof and being able to lift it. While the price certainly isn't cheap, it's a lot less than I expected for a basic model. Intriguing indeed! Thanks You know the saying You...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The freak accident thread

Don't know if you would call it an accident. One night I pulled in pretty late( actually very early) into a campsite near Moab. Being a quite as one can be with a diesel truck I set up camp in a few seconds. Hitting the sack I managed to lay onto the truck keys which activated the alarm...

Marc: Nice camper. would love to see it in person. If I were retiring and traveling full time or such, I could see me getting one of these. One question, have never seen pics with anything on top. Do you recommend carrying kayaks or canoes up top? extra storage? Some photos of the...

How wide is the camper at the bed? Assuming you are sleeping perpendicular to the camper some thought towards accommodating parallel sleeping wouldn't be bad for the taller campers so they're not touching the sides with head/feet, I know I like it better that way in my FWC since I build a...

Very interesting. I don't think you dr are on the same page here :) So you have the exterior shell, then some kind of closed cell insulation, then an interior shell? Or what? It’s basically a sandwich composite construction. Build just like a high end boat with no seams = no leaks See rear...

Ok Marc, I guess my question wasn't too clear..... Sorry; I did misunderstood your question. I'll try again, If for instance you ran a cable through the roof for a solar panel, how would you seal the cable entry to keep water out. If a rack was mounted on the roof...how do you seal the bolt...

Where is the bath/shower mentioned, its not jumping at me in the pics? What size is the bed, does it pull out as well? Nice work. Thanks The bed is Queen size and it doesn't need to slide out. There are some pretty big storage compartments under the bed ;with each compartment sealed off to...

Sorry Marc, didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I'm only asking the questions I'd ask as a prospective purchaser and I was standing right in front of you. If the questions make you uncomfortable then something's wrong. I said either balsa or foam coring..either can get water in them. I wasn't...

Hi Marc, Thanks for bringing us up to date on your camper. While I appreciate what you have shown and told us, I'm greedy and want more. ;) You said the shell weighs about 600 lbs. How about the whole camper when equipped with cabinets and other amenities? Since you are just starting out, I...

It would have been nice if you had a finished version at Overland Expo. The one I saw there appeared to be only partially completed, wires hanging from the ceiling, no upholstery, no door, etc. Basic design looks good and would really have liked to see one complete. One question, it appeared...

Very nice, I like flatbeds as well, see a ton of them in Australia. So does the camper have a door  ? Thanks Who needs a door if you have big windows?? Yes; it's a side entry door. You can see it at the right side of the camper; 1st pic

Here a re some pics of the truck without the camper. Never had a flatbed before; but sure love the versatility of it. I think flatbeds rule... It's a short bed truck. The break over angle is pretty good on this truck. You could use a hitch extension to tow some things.

Here are some pics from the inside. I used a cool technique from the marine industry by creating a lip on the counter top. No water can roll off. The faucet is a single handle for ease of use and has a ceramic valve. The shower converts to a counter top when not in use. The same single handle...
