RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

SOLD -- Selling my 2011 Hawk. I'm in the Sacramento, CA area. Original owner. Only used about twice a year on average. Well maintained, well kept. Applied 303 protectant to vinyl popup material once a year. Everything works and is in great shape. Kept on a F-150 for about 1/3 of the time...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using tent sites

I've camped at "tent only" sites in some campgrounds and even asked the ranger if it was OK before I camped there and it was never and issue. Most of what I've been told is the reason for having the tent only sites is to eliminate generators. Also many of the tent sites couldn't park a big...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Revisiting the 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton question....

Definitely E rated for any truck camper configuration. Also, first thing I'd do is replace the factory shocks and put a rear sway bar on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Revisiting the 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton question....

Cool, looking forward to your experiences by moving from 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton. I'm in a F-150 right now, and I think if I ever do move up, I'll go for a 1-ton just for more headroom in payload/CWR.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Generators when camping?

I have a Honda EU2000i that I only pack on trips where I feel my solar won't keep up, which means usually when I go on winter trips or trips in dense forest. I have 200 watts of solar and 2x 79Ah batteries, so that keeps me going on most trips without the need of a generator. But, it is very...

@photohc, can you post or PM me how to installed the 2nd fan? I have the same fridge as you and want to try and improve efficiency by installing an exhaust fan and also more insulation.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing Ice Box with 2 Way Fridge

I have upper and lower vents with my Dometic 80. I hear a fan come on when the fridge is running, but of course that's the built-in fan on the fridge, right? I didn't have FWC add the fridge fan option. I think I'll add more insulation around the fridge and maybe add another fan. Is there a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing Ice Box with 2 Way Fridge

I have the Dometic CR1080 in mine, and yes it sucks down the power. I'm wondering if the Isotherm CR85 is going to be a big enough reason to upgrade to pull out my CR1080 and sell it. Tech specs show 380w/day avg. for the Isotherm. My Dometic comes close to double that. Anyone have one of the...

I read on the Renogy site for these flexible panels: "To avoid hot spots, please try to mount the panel so that there is minimal direct contact between the panel and the surface it is to be mounted to. We recommend that there be at least a half inch of space between the solar panel and the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar - informal survey of brands and customer satisfaction

I have a ramsond mono 100w panel on the roof. Morningstar mppt-15L controller, 2x deka 79ah baterries. I also installed an additional solar plug on the side of the camper to plug in a renogy suitcase 100w panel. The ramsond is a great panel, have had really good luck with it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

DrJ, what is your solar set up like? How many watts and Ah are you pulling from it? I have a similar set up as you, and drawing about 50-55 Ah /day average, with a 160 Ah dual battery bank, but my 100w solar can't keep up after 3-4 days. I am thinking about adding a 2nd solar plug to the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Yakima Roof Racks

You should be able to get two sets of 60" tracks as I believe the end caps are just that, caps, and butt each end of the 60" tracks up end to end. This may be the way FWC does it in the factory, not sure.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Moving from F150 to bigger truck

I'm pretty sure the F250/350 don't have beds as deep as the F150 so the camper will look to sit higher with the gap between the bottom of the camper and the bed being more significant. The normal bed length is also 6.75' (vs. 6.5' on the 157" supercrew F150) from what I remember from my...

My Hawk is about a year old now, and I got it with the rollover couch option. The upsides I felt the dinette offered was a more table-centric seating position for playing cards, laptop, writing, etc for a couple of people. The dinette also opens up more view access for the side window. The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jacks, sliding front window ?

Re: Jacks - I think the jacks are a necessity, unless of course you plan on leaving the camper on the truck all of the time. I'm not sure how I would store or take my camper on or off without them. Takes about 15 minutes to take the jacks off or put them on. I don't leave them on while the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ultimate Solar Thread

Where are folks mounting their charge controllers in the FWC? I want to get a MPPT controller, but it requires a good amount of air space around it, so I think mounting it down in the battery compartment somewhere is out, especially since there's not much room anyways with two batteries. I have...

Re: my prev post- - Looks like I can easily find the roof beams on the seamless FWC roof by going inside the camper. Anybody know how to easily locate the aluminum roof beams on the new seamless roof? If I knew how far they space them I could measure off the Yak tracks they installed, but not sure about the beams perpendicular.
