Not at all Vic. You have helped me so much in the past. From upgrading to heavy gauge cable from truck battery to installing Trimetric in my older camper, etc. you’ve been a great help. Convinced me to get a Victron 100/30 that should be in my mail today. By the way. As many times as I have...

Thanks Vic, Rando, OldCrow and all, I knew I could count on you to steer me in the right direction. I signed up on Electricbike.com forum with same topic and got many reply post since last night. Lots of ebike nerds been doing this for years and I am sure I will find my way there. Cheers.

I doubt that I will be charging the battery outside or below 32F. I believe they have built in BMS. They cost plenty, $500+, I am sure they are protected.

Now I am really glad that I did not order the second stock battery when I ordered the bike. The video is for a different model bike, but their website shows a new 52v/16ah available for preorder at cheaper price, with a 3 amp charger include. I will get more power and save some money. I am on...

Just checked Lunacycle website. They have many chargers. I better call Rad bike for possibility of 4 amp charger. I won’t be charging three at the same time. Only one at a time. But maybe if I get the bigger inverter, and another charger, will I be able to charge two at the same time if the sun...

Planning on getting Victron mppt 100/30 soon. Some Brit on Utube demoed using Victron 150/70 and 300 watts panel to charge the battery directly without the stock Rad charger. Possible without damaging the battery? Rad bike told me my Honda eu2200i should be able to charge 14a via charger. But...

I was hoping a guru would chime in. Vic, Rad bike battery is 14 ah for the RadRunner Plus. They also offer a slimmer profile one that is 10.5 ah. There are aftermarket batteries that is 52 v but I have not looked into them yet. Below is info on the Lunacycle site...

Well, just spent my stimulus money on a Rad ebike. I am sure I will be much stimulated. Maybe even more so if congress approves ebike 30% tax credit. Before the ebike arrives, I am trying to figure out best ways to charge up battery while in the boonies for multiple days. I have read RC Jim’s...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Price Guidance - Used 2011 FWC Hawk

I bought a 2006 Grandby, my first, six years ago. After paying $6k to seller, I asked him why he was selling it so cheap. He said that was what he paid for it and wanted to pass on what he don’t use anymore. Pricing your Hawk depends how much you like your friend and how greedy you are. My 2...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How tough is it to get to the FWC electronics?

steve whiteside 06 Feb 2021 I just got back from mammoth Mtn here in CA where I camped in a blizzard for 3 days and then an additional 4 days of cold. Overnight I was seeing outside temps down to 5-10F and one night at -1F. I run a Goal zero Li battery pack which is exposed to the outer wall...

Glad you survived a genuine blizzard and was well prepared for it. But, I have to say that was not very wise. I understand the need to get out of the city and soaking in hot springs, but you knew the blizzard was coming and risked being out there. Not so much fun stuck in camper for three days...

Lots of good bandaid solutions here, but just go with Torklift. Pricy but you won’t regret it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck Help, Diesel Necessary?

There are plenty of Hawk being carried on Tacoma that has less carrying capacity than a Sierra 1500. You shouldn’t need a 3/4 or a one ton truck for your Hawk as suggested. I would go with add a leaf and better shock and sway bar first. Wider and more macho tires will help too with sway. Shaky...

Sounds right. I usually drain everything first and then open one thing at a time to blow out, and screw out pump filter too to dump water out. Best tip I learned was to use psi regulator, dialed down below 45 psi or so to prevent blowing out fittings.

Rando, I looked into splice in shut off valve in outside shower line but there is just no room in my Grandby. Short of taking the cabinet apart to even access the short hose, there isn’t enough space for a valve inline. If someone had a solution, I do it right away. It is the only weak point I...

Play it safe than sorry. That is why a digital in/out thermometer with max/min readings can help you prevent freezing. If it is consistent 21F outside for hours and hours and with wind chill not factored in. Water lines will freeze if inside temperatures is not managed properly. Your two...

Patrbukley, I have a 2016 Grandby too. You mentioned that around 25F you would empty all water from the camper system. I have never worried about freezing water lines or water in spare 5 gal water containers left outside unless it gets down to below 19F. I try to not fill water containers to...

Getting a Wave 3 heater is my ticket to quiet and warm night of sleep at 15F or lower. Open cabinets. Heat up water and dump back into 20 gal tank and heat water again to play it safe. I also bring a 5 gal propane tank so I don’t have to worry about running out of in the middle of the night...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tilt bracket for Yakima track mounted solar panel

PaulT, etc. I moved one of my 100 watts mono Renogy panel mounted on Renogy tilt mount from my travel trailer to the aluminum rack on my Grandby. Had to widen the mounting hole on the panel frame just a tad to make the bracket fit snugly. Cost $32 from Amazon. Much simpler and more adjustable...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tilt bracket for Yakima track mounted solar panel

Jack, thanks for trying to help, but I lack a engineering degree and imagination. Your description was loss on me. 4WC called back. Shawn informed me that no one has asked about tilting the panel before. He also said that it won’t make that much difference anyway. I beg to differ as the Winter...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tilt bracket for Yakima track mounted solar panel

Jack, thanks for the recommendations, but tilting it long way would have the panels site too high. If the wind comes up...not feasible in my opinion. Piano hinges? Not very beefy as far as I can tell. Can you send pics of how you mounted inside the track. I can’t even find the hardware that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tilt bracket for Yakima track mounted solar panel

Dropping one side of the roof may gain 20 degree of tilt, sure. It can help somewhat in some situation, I am a bit handy but lazy too. I was hoping someone had made a tilt setup or found a commercial bracket that is easy to use and secure. Made a call to 4WC for suggestions. I am sure someone...
