RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof popping problem

Called Jay at FWC at Stan’s suggestion. He informs me that there is a bow on the roof that was built into the length of the roof. He speculated that the previous owner may have over loaded the roof, which may have caused more bowing and causes popping. The overload could of come from gear...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof popping problem

My Grandby is a 2016 model. Was actually a showroom model with everything added. You’d think they would take care in building a floor model, but mine has obvious flaws in the roof and in the cabinetry, minor but unnecessary if they have better quality inspections.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof popping problem

Two sleepless night as winter storms passes through. Wind up to 35 mph and maybe higher gusts. Loud popppng and shaking was quite disconcerting. My Grandby has factory aluminum rack and Yakima tracks and 160 watts panel. Roof has Low spots that collects water too. I tend to think it is a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help... no water

I finally figured it out. After trying several advise from this forum and watching Utube, read FWC tips and tricks, etc. I learned there are a lot of contradictory advise, even from FWC and Rockymtn FWC. Drove me nuts. What worked for me is tightening the pressure switch adjustment clockwise...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Internal drain line shutoff valve

Wallows, I read somewhere the drain line is braided and according to Stan’s post, it is suppose to be flexible. As to size of the line, I assume it to be 3/8” as it is that where it goes into the external cheapy shutoff valve on the 30G camper. If it is 1/2” pex, I think it would drain a lot...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Internal drain line shutoff valve

Big sky, thanks for the pics on your Keystone. My newer Grandby configuration is different from yours. If I had so much room to work with as in yours, I would of have installed it already. Your pics showed a nice valve and I will get one like yours. As for inline shutoff to the outside shower...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Internal drain line shutoff valve

I need some advise on where to install inline shutoff valve that can be accessible in my 2016 FWC Grandby. I read All the wintetizing tips and sagely advise. Saw Stan’s pic on where to locate the line, and I understand it is a 3/8” braided, (why can’t FWC use bigger line to facilitate draining?)...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping Lighters

Ahhh, gasoline to start a fire, must of been a whiteman’s fire. Sounds like fun, but don’t recommend it, less telling people about it. Not a boy scout were you.

Vic, my pump surges on hot and on cold. Good pressure. Noise changes. Not consistent.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone add a extra grab handle ?

Zirdu, saw your pics on the grab handle and screen door cross bar. I got both right away, but having issues mounting with both. The big grab bar mounting spots above and below stock bar have nothing solid to anchor into except thin wall, and I was wondering if you drilled through into interior...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help... no water

Water pump surges only when tap is on. I redrainef the hot water tank, and this time had the hot water tap only like I was suppose to and that helped bleed the air out out the tank. The water pump worked fine did couple of days, but went back to surging again. This time with different sound...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help... no water

Good advise here. I have a “issue” with my Shurflo. It pumps water fine, but it pulses sometime and other times, it pumps continuously. Something to worry about? I did just experimented with wintetizing regimes posted here and there. Is there air trapped somewhere or the pump did not prime...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Atwood Furnace Won't Light...........

My Grandby had issue with Attwood furnace too. Try lighting the stivev and let it burn for 30 seconds to purge trapped air. Make sure you have plenty of propane in the cylinder. I also found out that when the hot water heater is on, the furnace won’t light either. Click the thermostat on and off...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Winter camping and furnace size

Ditto on 10 lb propane tank usage. If anyone uses up 2/3 for cooking and heating overnight, you must have the unknown brand furnace set above 80f and had your door open. My 10 lb tank last just about two weeks of daily use.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Simple Portable Solar Advise Please

I checked the Zamp controller onboard and found wire from the rear plug is connected to bus that is connected to the back of the controller. The bus is also connected to roof top panel I assume and the batteries. I better ask FWC for advise on how to use my portable.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Simple Portable Solar Advise Please

I will check the back of the ZAmp controller to see if the rear SAE plug connect there. If it goes to the battery directly, they will be best for me as I would have to bypass the Portable’s controller. What damage can if really cause if juice from one portable panel goes thru two different...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Simple Portable Solar Advise Please

I used test light to check polarity at the Rear SAE plug and used multimeter as radarcontact suggested. SOME ZAmp plugs may have reversed polarity, but mine was “correct” I called tech at ZAmp, and he said there is no standard as to which side is set pos or beg and they do the reverse for safety...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Simple Portable Solar Advise Please

Good detailed instruction radarcontact, but your write up still confused me a bit. I have a 2016 Grandby with rear wall ZampSolar SAE plug. I tested as in your write up. I have 160 watts on the roof and ZampSolar controller. I want to use my Renogy portable 100 watts to plug in the rear wall...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper frame grounding bus location

Thanks Bernard and Vic, Yes I did find the negative bus behind the IOTA, and I think that bus is wired to the bus below the battery isolator. I still don't know where the bus behind the IOTA is connected to a frame. I guess I shouldn't bother worrying about following diagrams that specify...
