The internet has revealed The Lolo rack as a good option.
Follow up question - could a flatbed owner please measure the distance from the hitch opening to the rear wheel of their flatbed camper. I’m looking to understand the depth of the overhang and thus judge the length of hitch extension...
Hi
I currently have an FWC Hawk slide in and carry my two mountain bikes on a regular hitch rack.
I have a flatbed hawk and new F350 on order.
Does anyone have experience using a hitch rack with a flatbed camper? Seems like the camper overhang is significant and I’d need a serious hitch...

I have a 2019 F150 5.0V8 ext-cab 2WD and the door sticker tells me i have 2300lb payload. I have a Hawk, E-tires and Hellwig pro springs. Very...
For sale a nearly new overland solar MPPT charge controller (100/15) and MPPT controller display.
Both removed from an FWC Hawk, used for about 5 months. Work perfectly.
$100 shipped (from Seattle)
Hi guys,
Removed the Timbrens and swapped for Hellwig Pro add on springs. Have driven about 400 miles.
Night and day difference, the suspension is a little softer and suspension travel has increased so the ride is a lot more compliant, especially on square edged hits. I still need to spend...
I have a 2019 2WD F150 V8 supercab which has 2320lb payload capacity.
I have a FWC Hawk installed.
I have e rates tires and have installed Timbrens and recently bilstein 5100.
The ride remains a little harsh and bouncy. I’m wondering if that’s as good as it gets or since the camper is a...
Adding for future reference...
The F150 has an Alu bed which is thin. Mule Expedition outfitters in Issaquah make extra sturdy brackets which bolt to the truck frame to take the load from the camper. They fitted them to my F150 during the camper install
Yep - very worth it to eliminate all play. The 1up has antirattle built in but the rakattach benefits a lot
CZC AUTO Hitch Tightener, Heavy Duty Anti-Rattle Stabilizer for 1.25" and 2" Hitches, Reduce Movement from Hitch Tray Cargo Carrier Bike Rack Trailer Ball Mount, Rust Free (1 Pack, Carbon...
Update - just fitted the regular ones (double convuluted spring). Drove 50 miles and it’s night and day difference. Truck drives like there isn’t a camper on there now. They support the weight well and the factory dampers can keep up.
Would recommend the regular Timbrens.
I fitted without the...
I have the Rakattach that you linked fitted with a 1up 2 bike rack on my F150 with a Hawk. Plenty of space for the bikes and it works great. Really easy to swing out of the way. I’d say most places are sold out of bike racks too so get one while you can.
Get a $10 hitch stabilizer to make it...
Ok update - the F150 smart alternator doesn’t charge the battery full.
I had the battery tested at Ford and they said it’s all good.
I then also disconnected the battery sensor on the negative terminal so that on road trips I get full alternator output 14.5V to my FWC Hawk.
Last week I fitted the Timbren SES ‘severe service kit’ which are the single convicted springs to my F150 with a Hawk based on the Timbren Website guidance ‘use with slide in campers’. The ride was pretty bad - bouncy and harsh, although it went round corners great. Timbren CS were great and are...
I pick up my Hawk this week and then immediately depart on a 7-day trip to Oregon. We have an infant and I was wondering about attaching her stroller to either the roof or rear of the camper - since we don't anticipate using it much (but probably just enough to warrant bringing it).
The Hawk...
That’s what I’m wondering - if the truck sat on the lot for ~6 months? (It’s a 2019) then it’s entirely possible the battery has been killed (my theory anyway)
Hi
I bought a new F150 last month. I bought from dealer stock and given the little bits of mould they didn’t clean from the bed, I think this has sat in the lot for a few months.
I bought a voltage meter which goes in the cigarette plug to get an idea of battery health.
It’s generally 12.2v...
I’m picking up my new Hawk in 2 weeks and was wondering...
If I want to cook outside, can I use the onboard propane to cook with?
I assume through some combination of hoses and adaptors it’s possible, but would it be worth it (to save on carrying a small propane or butane tank for an outdoor...
Hi
I’m about to collect a new Hawk which was a showroom model so it was close to my ideal spec.
It has 1 battery and the 65L compressor fridge.
How long can I expect this battery to last when out camping?
I’ll likely add a 100W solar panel to the roof soon - but living in the PNW a lot of...
Looking for a FWC Hawk. Located in Seattle, willing to travel for the right one. Would like very good condition, ideally 2015 or newer. Prefer side dinette but not too fussy.
