    Newbie Alaskan Camper.

I have a '75 CO that I rebuilt and I went with LiFePO4 lithium. I added a induction cooktop and a good sized dc refrigerator and went with a 400ah rack mount battery that hangs vertically in the space under one of the dinette seats. As I'm sure you know, lithiums are safe to use inside and...

    Forward Bulkhead Window Glazing

I bought gaskets for the windows in my doors from here. I think Alaskan used Herr windows for years. https://vintagetrailergaskets.com/6-vintage-trailer-gaskets

    Remounting the Alaskan Top

I rebuilt the top seperate on my 8' '75 C/O. I was lucky enough to have a tall open ended shed and used 4 come-alongs to lift the top high enough to back the base underneath on a trailer. Took a while to get the base lined up under the trailer. To complicate things I had removed the hydraulics...

    New to me NCO Alaskan

Don't have any extra badges and they are not cheap when they show up on eBay. The latest ones that sold were about $100 each. An alternative is a decal. This place has them but don't know much about them. Scroll down and they are listed there...

    New to me NCO Alaskan

In my Alaskan for a refrigerator/freezer I went with the NovaKool R3803 that is a good size (100L) and can sit lower than most since it has a stepped back and the compressor on top. Made to fit the hull of a boat but works well for truck campers. It is DC/AC but I went with DC only since it it...

Camper Tag - What does it tell me?

At one point there were 7 plants that made Alaskans. In 1972 there were plants in Suisun CA, Seattle WA, Alberta Canada, Mannheim PA , Houston TX, Sioux Falls SD and Lupton CO. My '75 only had a number stamped into the steel angle on the back bottom left. If you can find this number, the...

For those of you with slide in Alaskans on flatbeds

There are many possibilities! Just keep in mind that there needs to be some internal structure, either cabinets or some kind of walls screwed to the floor and the sidewalls that give it dimensional strength so it doesn't rack. I rebuilt my 8' 1975 cabover and shortened it to 7', added an...

For those of you with slide in Alaskans on flatbeds

It would almost be easier to build a new bottom for the camper since you would have to replace the sides along with the front and back of the bottom and rebuild the structure of the cabinets to accommodate the new footprint. You would only be keeping the cabinets and the floor but probably...

New to us '00 10Ft CO Alaskan and question about camper jack extensions

Probably won't help you much but I used some cut offs of ipe wood that I had here and simply made my own. They were 2.5" thick which were enough for me with my single wheel Ford F150. Ipe is hard as a rock but is a rainforest wood and if you had to buy it may cost as much as the ones from...

Camper bed platform for Ford SuperCab

I have a 2015 F150 and my Alaskan was also too low to fit into the bed. I built a base out of 2x4s and 3/4" plywood that is permanently fixed to the bottom. To maximize storage space, I cut out the old floor under the step between the dinette that had a drawer and made a hatch to the step...

Help with ideas for patching the side of an Alaskan camper

Eternabond would seal those areas and may not look pretty but if you ever want to remove it it's probably worse than silicone!

Dangerous Twisting of Jacks When raising and Loading Alaskan 10 CO on my Ford Long bed

I have the Reico Titan jacks on mine and the front jacks had a difficult time clearing the tires without tipping them out some. I had some 3.5" ipe chunks laying around so I cut them to make some extenders for the front jacks and picked up some longer bolts. They are rock solid and now clear...

What do you have going for an electrical system?

I'll answer what I can since I have a '75 Alaskan CO and they changed over the years. Mine never had a converter (converts 110v AC to 12v DC and charges the battery) and I'm not sure it ever even had a battery. Yours probably doesn't have an inverter (converts 12v DC battery power to 110v AC...

What do you have between the camper and the truck bed?

I don't have a F250 but I do have a 2015 F150 and test fit my '75 CO Alaskan the other day. I used some 4x4s and left the plastic bed liner in. It was just about the right height to clear the bed rails and the cab on mine.

You might contact Pop Top Overland. They have converted some Alaskans to electric actuators and talked about making a conversion kit at one time. Not sure if they ever did or not! https://poptopoverland.com/
