RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hope this works-2 inches of latex foam

There's also the issue that the controls (and lifter knob) for my MaxxAir fan would be in the way of a bar that was flush against the ceiling. I'll have to give this some more thought, or just delay until we get used to the head banger board. To be clear, neither of us has actually banged our...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hope this works-2 inches of latex foam

I forgot about Hypervent, which was mentioned to me in my new camper thread. Well, now that I've added 2" to the height of the mattress I'm worried about headroom in the bed. When I showed my husband the new mattress topper he said, "before I was crawling; now I'll be slithering." I think, in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hope this works-2 inches of latex foam

Here are a few pics of a 2" latex foam topper I'm HOPING will make my sleep dreamier (well, comfortable-er is what I really mean). I just laid it out and it seems to have been cut perfectly to size at the factory. I has no smell at all but I'm going to let it air out a few hours before putting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Appropriate batteries for Hawk FB?

PS: Last evening I unplugged from shore after the camper had been plugged in for 36 hours. The battery charger read 13.5 V when I unplugged. This morning at 6 am as the sun was just starting to hit the solar panel it read 12.6 V. All that was running overnight (11 pm to 6 am) was the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Appropriate batteries for Hawk FB?

We bought our camper last month. The previous owner had just installed new batteries. I think he said the batteries he replaced were the originals from the factory (2016). He only owned the camper for about 10 months. I find electricity in general, and batteries in particular, somewhat...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma leveling app no longer available

I am curious about the relationship between the cab of the truck and the camper. I have no reason to think the flatbed is actually flat or if it is that the camper is sitting flat on the flatbed. And then there's tire pressure, which varies. I guess with my phone and watch I can find out what...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Iron Mountain

We went up the McKenzie River this past weekend past the source (Clear Lake and Fish Lake) of the river and on a little further to Iron Mountain. I can't believe I've never been here before. Steep alpine meadows filled with wildflowers. I think peak wildflower time was a few weeks ago (mid to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma leveling app no longer available

I used Level-My-RV this weekend in a parking lot along the Old Santiam Wagon Road (adjacent to Hwy 20 in Oregon). I only made one attempt with no adjustments. I got front to back level and side to side pretty close. I was inhibited from trying to get closer by the fact that I'm still self...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma leveling app no longer available

I downloaded "Level My RV." I put in the data it needs (type of RV, wheelbase, width) and will try it one day soon when I have time. What will be nice about this app, if it works, is that I should be able to lay my phone down flat on the camper floor and then see on my Apple Watch what...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma leveling app no longer available

I just went to the Apple Store to get the free Truma leveling app I've seen mentioned here. It comes up "no longer available in your area/country" or something like that. Any alternatives y'all can recommend?

And yes I know there's damage to the jack plate in the photo. And that there are no screws holding it on.......that's another project.

We just realized (maybe we should have known this) that lifting the hinged panel back to horizontal (it hangs down after unlatching it) before pushing up on the wood push panels makes 90% of our previous issues go away. I don't understand the mechanics of why it helps, but now, between this...

I have been considering tables, especially after last weekend when we "dry camped" with some friends at a marina/RV park where dry camping was LITERALLY in a pair of spaces in an ordinary parking lot! No picnic tables or anything. Do you have the standard or the large tire table? Is it sturdy...

I will look into the Lagune table. The standard table does seem a bit lacking. As to E-W sleeping, we are already committed as our camper does not have the bed slide out. We are finding the sleeping area plenty roomy; it's hard to imagine who needs the slide out except I guess it makes N-S...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Favorite Books

In June, on the three day drive from Missouri to Oregon with our new-to-us Hawk camper we started listening to "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry. I can't believe I never read this American classic. And it was fun because so much of the action takes place in Nebraska and Wyoming, which we were...

And let me add, since difficulty raising and lowering the roof is how I got into the trapped wire scenario in the first place, that turning on both fans pulling air into the trailer seems to help significantly. Got the roof up and down a few times today alone without much difficulty. I don't...

I just finished the interior finishing flange (another bunch of small PITA things happened) and in fact I'm just sitting down with a delightful margarita. Very thirst quenching for us trailer DIY-ers. Thinking about what improvements I should make next.......

Ok, it is done. Wire is freed. Only had to back out two screws and pry a tiny bit. Jammed a bit more butyl tape in the gap, screwed it back down, reapplied lap sealant. Not as bad as I thought. Now for the interior ceiling "garnish." Love that terminology!

You speak the truth. The feeling I get when I'm using my hands AND my head to push up is scary. A voice in my head (or maybe it's in my neck) is saying "don't do this."
