Happy with your 1/2 ton and customized shell camper?

I have a 2003 Tundra Access Cab with a 1999 Phoenix Coyote and AirLift airbags. The dry weight of the camper is 750 lbs. I made the mistake of NOT buying E-rated tires. The truck has a mushy ride with the camper on, and the braking distance is definitely longer. A 3/4 ton would be nice, but I...

    Marshall Pass, Colorado

While we were at Marshall Pass, a mama bear and her two cubs laid waste to our chokecherry trees. They stripped 'em bare and broke lots of branches. Then they left four large piles of chokecherry pit poop around the yard. Since then, I've seen the family twice. I suspect the Gambel Oak acorns...

    Marshall Pass, Colorado

Rotti, I'd drive down the west side of Marshall Pass to US 50, then head west to the Owl Creek Pass turnoff to take the scenic route to Ridgway. Here's a pic from the Middle Fork of the Cimarron River in that neck of the woods. What a timely post Steve. I am heading to the San Juans...

    Marshall Pass, Colorado

We met some pals over the weekend atop Marshall Pass, SW of Poncha Springs, Colorado. It's a 14-mile easy drive from US 285 between Poncha Springs and Poncha Pass. The 2wd road follows an old railroad grade from US 285 to US 50 between Poncha Springs and Gunnison. Lots of nice camping at the top...

    Lizard Head Pass

My wife and I popped up at the top of Lizard Head Pass after enjoying the final day of the "Telluride Blues and Brews Festival." The next morning was pretty darned brisk. Nice having a furnace in those conditions!

Maybe in July I should drop by the Rio Grande headwaters for some of that cobbler, eh? Any interesting peaks in the area? We'll save you a piece. :D I have not climbed it Rio Grande Pyramid, but got a great view of it and La Ventana from Weminuche Pass a few years back...

How was the cobbler, Steve? Stew - It still exists in my dreams. We've been buried with getting the veggie garden going and nurturing the seedlings, so no camping yet. We're planning on meeting some pals up in the headwaters of the Rio Grande at the end of July. That will be the awesome...

    Arizona Wildfires

We're getting smoke intermittently up in Durango, 250 miles away from the Wallow Fire... as the smoke flies. Monday was so bad you couldn't see the La Plata Mountains from downtown Durango, less than 10 aerial miles away. Since then the wind has shifted. On Wednesday I drove to Bayfield and...

Thanks DD and fellow Wanderers! I'm thinking a raspberry cobbler might just be the perfect choice for its maiden voyage. I've had my eye on the Partner DO for a long time. Very cool to now own one!

Sorry to hear that. I've had to put down too many pets over the years. It's a painful experience for us, but the consolation is that our furry pals are no longer feeling pain.

    World ends Saturday!

Wouldn't you know I have to work on the Rapture? Dang. This is not the first end-of-the-world I've had to miss due to work. ;) LOL. Yeah, if the snow that's falling here now melts on the Rapture, I'll be out in the garden planting potatoes, peas and spinach.

    ELECTRONIC MELTDOWN

Wow. As an electrical ignoramus, I have tried to follow this thread and grasp what y'all are talking about. This thread is a perfect example of why WTW is such an awesome website: knowledgeable folks helping less-knowledgeable folks without a hint of attitude.
