    5. Finally, my pick for the most likely reason your top is binding. Check to see if any of the attachment screws or bolts on the he stainless guides have worked loose, thereby creating a friction point on the slide. This was the cause of uneven raising and lowering on my 8'NCO. In addition...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Use - Heating

Similar situation. 2 dogs, 2 humans. I was thinking that keeping the over head vent open a bit would help to mitigate this some. Was also thinking about installing one of these to use when I'm staying at places where I have the luxury of plugging in. linky

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Use - Heating

The primary use of my Alaskan will be Winter camping. I'm told that propane catalytic heaters put off moisture into the air creating a condensation issue. Does anyone have any direct experience with this as it relates the the Alaskan? Is there a way to mitigate condensation build up? Thanks!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Winter Use FWC/ATC

We don't have the arctic pack and when it's raining and mid to lower 30's there's a LOT of condensation. We wipe it off but under those conditions it never dries. Arizona in winter at mid 20's is a piece of cake...dries every morning and not much condensation to start with. We would like to add...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Re-sealing my Alaskan - places and products?

Hi, Just took mine back to the mothership (Alaskan Campers) as I am fortunate enough to live within a reasonable drive to Chehalis WA. While there I had them replace seals and check the function of the 93 10' CO that I recently purchased. They used and recommended this product...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New member - How do you secure your Alaskan?

Update... ^^^ The CO I purchased was mounted through the trucks bed. When I removed it from the sellers truck I was struck by how little was really holding the thing in place. Four bolts with basic washers running through the floor of the camper, through sheet metal without reinforcement. This...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Wind or Air Deflector

$400 seems like a lot to spend. Try doing a Google search on roof rack air deflectors. While you may need more hight than what these offer, it might provide a starting point from which you could fabricate your own. I have seen several NCO rigs where the owner mounted a roof top basket in font...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Additional Space

The 77 CO I had, had those cut outs as well. The 88 I have now doesn't. I've thought about adding them however I'm a little concerned about heat loss as my primary reason for having it is for Winter camping. X2 what paul said about blocking up the base of the camper. In my case I had to block...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Used Alaskan pricing and inspection

Given the age and posted condition, $2000 seems pretty high. I picked up a 1988 8" CO recently for $1600.00. It is in pretty good shape. There are a few things that I will update/improve but they are minor.

Hello, thanks for your responses. Picked up the new camper last night. It was bolted to the bed of the truck and was a bit of a PITA to remove. I looked at the BIllis Split mount. They specify that this is not for off road use? Here's a picture of the 8' cabover that I am selling.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New member - How do you secure your Alaskan?

Howdy, New member here. Recently purchased an 1988 8' cab over Alaskan, and will be mounting it to my 04' Dodge 2500. I have seen that some people bolt through the bed of the truck to secure the camper. Considering that the camper wont be on the truck full time, this seems like it will be a...
