    I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'd add some info I got from Brian last week regarding Alaskan's early attempts using foam insulation rather than fiber glass batts. Around 1976 thru 1979/80 or so, they tried using foam to insulate the campers but "it didn't work out too well"...

    What about the camper?! I'm thinking that is in almost perfect condition. Maybe its pink inside, I don't know, but outside it is impressive.

    When did Alaskans go away from real wood veneers on the inside? I have two eight foot CO's in my sights. One is mid '70s that I have seen for myself. The other is a mid '80s I have not been able to check out yet. Besides the obvious differences in mechanicals, what are the differences...

    Thanks. I have found some aftermarket heaters for RV's online and may go that route at some point. But first I have to find my own Alaskan. I will certainly heed the advice regarding co2 detectors etc, whatever I use. Joshua

    So ALL Alaskan heaters vent into the living space. And nobody has installed a direct vent heater to replace the OEM one? Why not? I have a lot to learn about camper systems... Joshua

    Does an '74 Alaskan CO heater vent to the outside, or do all years and models use heaters venting inside. The one I am looking at has the heater under the cooktop, left of the door as you go in. Thanks in advance and thanks for the Alaskan section at WTW. Joshua
