RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Flexible panel installation on aluminum roof rack

    Today I have: - 180W panel (not flexible, solarblvd 2 years old) - CTEK D250SA MPPT charge controller 1.5 years old https://smartercharger.com/collections/on-board/products/ctek-d250sa - Victron BMV712 battery monitor 1.5 years old https://www.victronenergy.com/battery-monitors/bmv-712-smart -...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Flexible panel installation on aluminum roof rack

Hi, I bought a second solar panel for my roof, the renogy 160 watt flexible panel: https://smile.amazon.com/Renogy-Extremely-Flexible-Monocrystalline-Solar/dp/B079HJQBVW/ I want to install it on the rear aluminum roof rack (the one tha FWC builds). I want to install it in a manner that I can...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Victron install

It's true that it's not really needed to see the victron itself, I use the Bluetooth interface most of the time. But it's nice to glance at the voltage casually once in a while, I probably wouldn't open my phone for that as often. The screen is not bright at all. I had a panel custom made that...

I figured it out and have a mount on my jerry can too now. I actually use it quite a lot. I like it a lot inside but it's also nice to free up space inside when desired and have the table outside instead.

Looking at the picture, it looks like he used screws. I don't think glue would work, maybe some really good epoxy but jb weld might not be good enough. Some fancy solutions: https://www.mcmaster.com/#binding-nuts/=1cdqkpp https://www.mcmaster.com/#elevator-bolts/=1cdulxr...

Love this idea and am thinking of doing the same. How did you manage to attach the plate to the jerry can holder? There doesn't seem to be space for the nuts with the can in. Herve

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

Great. Just looked at the D250SA specs and both the float and absorption voltages are within specs of my batteries. On the other hand, it says "Conventional alternator cut-in >13.1V, for 5 sec". Between the low voltage of the Tundra alternator and the wires voltage drop. I'll have to check that...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Victron 702/712 battery monitor configuration with solar

BTW, my initial question was: did anybody tweak the BMV 702/712 settings so it detects full charge correctly with a solar system? What did you do?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

If I buy the C-TEK D250SA without the SMARTPASS and install it near the camper batteries, I don't have to upgrade the wires from the truck to the camper, right? It looks like FWC used 10 AWG cables and the D250SA manual says that's fine for up to 5 meters: https://tinyurl.com/d250sa-manual If...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Victron 702/712 battery monitor configuration with solar

Thanks for the reply. I've set the solar charge controller charging voltage to 14.5V so that it charges the battery rapidly (absorption mode). If I was to set it to something like 13.7V then it would charge too slowly when I'm actually using the camper (float mode). I did this based on a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Victron 702/712 battery monitor configuration with solar

Hi, I got the Victron 712 battery monitor and am in the process of installing it. I see on page 10 of the manual: "In solar systems or other applications with fluctuating charge currents, the following measures can be taken to reduce the probability for the BMV to reset prematurely to 100%...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

The C-TEK 250SA + Smartpass 120 combo looks great, and it would even replace my solar controller. But I think it's more work to install than I'm willing to stomach. Crazy(?) idea: what about having a DC to AC inverter on the truck battery / alternator and feeding that into the camper IOTA...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

I read in this thread that the Blue Sea ACR is superior to the Sure Power 1314A. My 2011 Hawk came with the IBS-DBR: http://ibs-tech.ch/en/products/dual-battery-system/ibs-dbr-dualbatt-relay.html I added a switch for the link so I could (in theory, not tested) trickle charge my truck battery if...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West I need more power Scotty!

I should probably check my battery separator but if Stan is right (http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/12674-battery-separator-question/?p=147437 step 2), then the truck battery should disconnect as soon as the truck engine is off. So more capacity in the truck battery won't help drain my...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West I need more power Scotty!

Thanks. The panel says max 180 delivered as max 9.5 A at 19V. I'm guessing the MPPT would convert that to max 12.4 A at 14.5 V. Then I have two batteries in parallel so each gets max 6.2 A. Couple things about that: - Do you know why battery manufacturers request a minimum charging current /...

Hi Vic and all, Great info here. I tried to read through some of this but got a bit overwhelmed with the amount of info. I'm trying to figure out what charging voltage I should put on my MPPT charge controller. I recently replaced my solar panel (previously 80w) and 2 camper batteries that...

So I finally installed my inverter. I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cobra-CPI-880-Inverter-output/dp/B001TE0IMG I decided not to try to hook it to the camper AC circuit using a relay after reading this article. It looks like you can do so expensive (pure sine wave) inverters, but not...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Having a hose and spray head inside the cabinet

Nice. When I placed my order, I asked FWC to swap the stove and sink so that the stove would be the one blocked by the slide. They didn't want to do it. Claiming it was too difficult to move these around / too many risks the workers would make a mistake / so it would end up not cost effective...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Having a hose and spray head inside the cabinet

Is the king slide a mod the manufacturer performs or did you do that yourself? What are the dimensions of the king slide? It's a factory option. It adds two more small cushion: instead of 1 big and 2 small, you have 1 big and 4 small. So it's about 16 inch longer, so you end up with a 76.5...
