RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Locking propane tanks in Hawk

That looks awesome. Mine only has Velcro straps. I think I’ll call and see if the metal strap will fit mine.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Locking propane tanks in Hawk

Thanks for the replies. I understand that its not legal to lock the door, although stealing them is technically illegal as well. I'm not looking to put them anywhere other than the propane compartment, just to try and secure them in the compartment. It has 2 of the 10 pound cylinders, so the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Locking propane tanks in Hawk

I've read a few threads about locking the propane tanks to prevent theft, but haven't seen what people were using. Does anyone have any ideas to share? I was going to put a lock on the propane compartment door, but think it would be better to just secure the tanks. Thanks!

Did you check to see if you popped a fuse when it was twisted?

I'm always amazed and would like to photograph them. My problem is the viewing is not usually compatible with my work schedule, and then it's cloudy on my days off! Definitely on my list of retirement activities though

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four wheel camper in bear country

Buckland, Other than the Russian River, you are unlikely to even see any bears. And don't worry about logging trucks, we hardly have any trees worth cutting. I do usually see a lot of bears on the Alcan though!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting Glowsteps on Hawk

Has anyone mounted the Stow N' Go from Torklift on a Hawk? I have the regular glowsteps mounted under the door, but the screws keep pulling out of the wood. I was thinking of pulling the black trim piece by the door jamb and drilling through with carriage bolts, but I like the idea of leaving...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordering a Hawk 1-28-17 Do's Don'ts?

Congrats on the new Hawk. I'm late to the conversation, but the rear steps make a very good spot to hang your waders to dry without dragging on the ground!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can't pump all water out of tank?

It's the first winter with my Hawk, so I can't say. However, I've installed the same valve in a couple of other campers over the years and haven't noticed any flow problems.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can't pump all water out of tank?

I added the Camco kit with a valve at the pump inlet to push the RV antifreeze through the system. I never add any antifreeze to the hot water tank or fresh water tank...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Comparing 3/4 Ton Trucks: Fuel Economy

My 16 Dodge 3500 diesel with a loaded hawk on the trip home from Colorado was getting 17, driving 65-75 as the speed limit dictated. I did try to make sure I didn't miss any national parks in the US or Canada that were near, so some of the driving was slower in the parks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck Camper Adventure

I had a bronco on my 2006 Dodge 1500. Plenty of power, but stopping and handling were not very comfortable. I wouldn't do it again with out a 3/4 ton.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Ceiling construction question

Bombsight, Did you ever get an answer? I'm thinking of mounting some quick fists to my ceiling to hold flyrod tubes, but I'm also a little worried about drilling into a brand new roof!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Who has driven the farthest to pickup their camper?

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to pick mine up in late September. I was worried it might be that late, but I would probably have it shipped instead. I camp in the winter, but it's a long drive when its cold and slippery!
