    Grandby will tailgate go up

The answer was 'no' for a '97 Grandby on a 91 Ford F250.

    Lithium or AGM

When I had a hardside camper (Bigfoot) I had a well-functioning absorption fridge, led bulbs, and had zero concerns about electrical power with 100W solar and 75AH of lead acid batteries. My current camper (4WC) has a compressor fridge, and that uses somewhere like 80-95% of my total electrical...

How Coyotes Learn In Death Valley

I encountered begging coyotes moving in front of vehicles in the 90's by Scotty's Castle, so they've been doing that for awhile.

    2014 Hawk Wiring Upgrades

When I saw the picture that showed you had kept the separator and the factory 30A breaker, I saw that as the issue. The DC/DC charger and your new 60A breaker replaces all that.

Hauling FWC on stock 2021 Toyota Tacoma

As far as the battery question, check the dimensions on the options. In my case, no way that 200AH Renogy would fit, where I currently have 300AH of 6V batteries.

Solo Loading a Kayak on a Hawk

I've loaded kayaks on top of my Grandby on a 4x4 Ford 350 hundreds of times, with a boat loader on each side. I also use a 6' step ladder I take with me everywhere I kayak. Sea kayaks are easiest, short white water boats are the hardest, since they are too short to lean against the extended...

    Found my clunk

I replaced the spring bushings on my prior F250 with Urethane. Removed the springs, torched the rubber bushings to soften them up. Watched as the hardened metal inner shot across the yard trailing smoke and flaming rubber. Burned out the balance of the bushing, then cleaned up the inside...

    Interior Cabinet Design Question

My take on that lower cabinet extending out further is that in the front dinette models, one can choose between storage, a porta-pottie storage, or a cassette toilet. Otherwise the cabinets would all be at the depth of the fridge.

old school couch and new school refrigerator options

Your post brought back memories of my first 4WC, a 1997 Grandby. As far as the couch backrest, in my current 4WC, they used industrial-strength velcro on the locations where the back contacts the supports. This keeps it in place, but allows it to be removed to make up the lower bed. I never...

They'd Call it a Camper in The East...

Blackwater tank tip #1. Start with some gallons of water and chemical, thus avoiding the dreaded stalagmites that prevent you from rinsing the tank. Tip #2 dump black tank first, then grey tank, thus somewhat rinsing the hose.

That looks darn nice. Where I live people might just call that 'home'.

    Front dinette bench seating modification

I wonder when 4WC stopped putting velcro there? My 2014 had it from the factory. I think your application is more robust, as mine wouldn't hold the seatbacks above the seat cushions

    Height when open?

I would venture 10' 6" will give you some leeway. A 2007 F350 with a Grandby needs just shy of 8' clear closed, just shy of 10' clear open.

    Hetch Hetchy

Be aware that day trip visitors now need reservations to enter the park. If you have in-park reservations for camping/Half Dome/Tent cabins etc. then you do not need a separate entrance reservation. https://www.nps.gov/yose/index.htm

    6.5 at 4 AM

I looked at my atomic watch when it stopped and it said 4:05. It did seemed to last about 20 seconds. Wasn't too bad in Dayton.

I need to hear a good new joke

Help identifying YEAR of this Four Wheel Camper Hawk?

My early 2014 has the same fabric, wood tone, composite lift panels, smooth aluminum cabover. Looks new to me.
