RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Steep Driveway with Camper on Utility Trailer

Yes I would definitely tie it down with the turnbuckles if possible but at a minimum it would be tie down straps on the camper mounts.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Steep Driveway with Camper on Utility Trailer

Just moved into a new place with a fairly steep driveway. Cant get the camper off to move into the garage so need to take it off on the street, put it on the utility trailer that I store it on and back the trailer up into the garage. I plan on strapping it down to the trailer, but wondering if...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hooking up Hawk to Bumper 7 pin on 2020 GMC Sierra 2500

Thanks all. Its definitely with the newer GM Trailering sensing. I opened this in a GM thread as well. Below seems to be my solution without having GM reprogram the Trailer Module. Also if anyone else has a 2020 GMC Sierra with the 360 Camera package. I found a site that has a camera to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hooking up Hawk to Bumper 7 pin on 2020 GMC Sierra 2500

Anyone have luck pulling the 3 pin connector off and splicing into a 7 Pin RV Blade, similar to this? https://www.curtmfg.com/part/56601 I can't seem to get the running lights to go, but I think its because the truck doesn't recognize anything hooked up to it so the plug isn't "activated" for...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Older Hawk won't fit in newer Chevy

Yeah I guess it would add some additional weight. I wasn't worried about the weight and it was a last minute thing as I had the dealer drill holes in the bed for the eye bolts as part of the deal and we noticed the camper wouldn't seat when they were done so that was my quick solution. It...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Older Hawk won't fit in newer Chevy

I have a 2014 Hawk originally on a 2014 Tundra, bought a 2016 Silverado with the rounded bed at the gate so I took 2 sheets of 3/4 outdoor plywood and sealed them together and placed them under the camper, this raised it enough to give it about 1/4 inch on each side of the rounded bed.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Honda 2000 Generator/Shore Power

Yeah I know the "G" word on here, but doing a 40 day trip to Alaska and back, and after living there I know there are days at a time where there is not enough sun to recharge the batteries via solar, so this is a backup if need be. Plus it was an excuse to get one for running a few small things...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Honda 2000 Generator/Shore Power

Maybe a dumb question, but can I hookup my Honda 2000 generator to the power cord used for shore power on a Hawk? Would I then be able to use the 110v outlet and also would it charge the batteries as if it was connected to an AC outlet? Thanks in advance.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Battery Isolator Question

Thanks PokyBro, it is a brand new truck. I will check out the battery manufacture date to see how old they are. Its a diesel with a dual battery system. Was going to disconnect the ground and run the voltage meter test on that to see how much is being drawn with the nothing being used. Was...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Battery Isolator Question

Guess that wasn't it. I totally took the camper wires out of the system and just during the day today from when I first posted voltage went from 13.27 to 13.02. Is it possible that it could be from just systems on the truck as mentioned above? Anyway thanks for all of the advice. I think...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Battery Isolator Question

OK took Bill's advice but not understanding how this actually works I'm not sure I understand what I was looking for, so I looked back at the pictures I took of how it was hooked up on the previous vehicle and maybe found my problem. I had the ground (black) wire from the camper hooked directly...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Battery Isolator Question

Thanks for the reply. I do not have an isolator under the hood just the thermal breaker. The dual battery system is parallel and its the thermal circuit breaker that FWC installs under the hood with a new camper. I have a 2014 Hawk. The circuit breaker is hooked to the second battery and I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Battery Isolator Question

Guess I should use the correct term. Can the self resetting circuit breaker under the hood that is installed with new campers possibly cause this with no draw on them since the camper is not on the truck?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Battery Isolator Question

I moved my Hawk into a new pickup and did the wiring myself based on what the old setup looks like. I have the isolator hooked up to the second battery in the truck with the white wire from the battery going to the gold terminal on the isolator and the other going to the camper hookup...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West San Juan Boondocking

Coming from Mammoth Lakes, looking for some great boondock spots in SW Colorado in the CO 145, CO 62, or US550 corridor, FS roads included, wherever I can get my Tundra with FWC Hawk. Trying to find spots with either waterfront or immaculate views. Am pretty familiar with the area but haven't...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Running the build in heater in cold weather

Yeah Im a pretty light sleeper so it would probably wake me up every time it kicks on. But the wife likes to be comfortable so it may have to be. Taking my son to Tahoe next week for a snowboarding comp and plan on dry camping either in the forest or ski area lot so will get a chance to try it...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Running the build in heater in cold weather

This might be a silly question but does anyone use their built in heater all night when camping in cold weather. If so have you ever had an issue with CO? Do you leave any windows or roof vents open during the night? Does it add significantly to the condensation? Just trying to gauge safety...

Camped in the Alabama Hills of the Eastern Sierra. If you haven't been here its super cool. Desert landscape, lots of awesome granite rock formations and Mt Whitney as a backdrop. The only bummer part was we had this great spot and no other people around and this huge EarthRomer sets up...
