Maybe I'm misunderstanding but what if you install a second strap to hold the one tank secure while its alone? Then you have a lone secure tank and no extra parts or things to worry about or add weight?

FWC would be able to tell you the recommended weight for the roof load but I think it is 100lbs. Is it possible to use a hitch mounted bike rack to take the weight off of the roof?

We just picked ours up and I had requested the in-bed mount. They drill through the bed and into the frame. I am of the same understanding as NewFish. On a 5' bed they use external mounting. They even asked if I had rock sliders for the install kit. Do you have a 5'? Was it a recent install? I wonder where the disconnect is in mine and NewFish's understanding of the 5' bed install.

We're thinking of doing a wrap as well. Or a decal design that spreads from truck side panels up onto camper. We should post any examples we find here.

While talking to someone at FWC over the phone about our Swift Shell, he said the shell models would see a $400 increase on Dec 1 along with the standard non-shells receiving an increase as well. Not sure about included options changes on the shells.
