RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Composite lift panel cracks?

It doesn't look right, maybe shine a flashlight behind the panel after dark. If you see any light shine through it's definitely defective.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Folbot Kodiak 15' single seat folding kayak

A circa 2007 Folbot kayak single seat in excellent condition, I'm the second owner. Original owner used it a few times on Lake Superior, I've used it on Oregon lakes and rivers since purchasing it in 2014, has not been used in salt water. A pleasantly unobtrusive sand brown in color, the upper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Easy Kayak Lift to Roof

An ideal setup, I can understand your pleasure, having used similar roller racks and a Pungo myself. I had a 10' Pungo, all around perhaps the best boat I ever had, used it everywhere from ocean surf play to ankle deep trout streams. I imagine the 12' footers would add the handy extra couple of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Issues to be Aware of

Thanks for your observations Wallowa, and to be fair I must clarify the reason why the tech was unable to install the turnbuckles... the internal space wherein the bed brackets and turnbuckles connect is extremely small, only with considerable contortion of my scrawny frame can I reach into the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Issues to be Aware of

The bodies of the turnbuckles were a VERY soft aluminum, hence the corrosion/residue. Combined with a sloppy fit of the eyebolts and they quickly wear and loosen up, I had the same problem just in the brief amount of time waiting for the new stainless turnbuckles to arrive. 'Suncor' makes good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Issues to be Aware of

Unfortunate encounter with the Tigard OR dealer, however I can empathize completely. Understanding that it's water under the bridge by now, as that dealer is closed, though a new one has opened up there in the same neighborhood and I'm not entirely sure if the same "technicians" aren't still...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turnbuckles, oh those darn turnbuckles

Having gotten into the habit of checking the turnbuckles regularly I find the forward drivers side loosens, the others tend to stay tight. The zip-tie idea is a good one, thanks guys. Having been the person who actually did the turnbuckle installation when I had the camper put on the truck at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New cubby made from wasted space

Excellent solution, I've been looking at the same space with the same questions. At present I've removed the 'hatch-cover' and put a tupperware container in that space to use for dishwashing supplies, but you've taken the more elegant approach, right down to the matching cabinet door. Nice work!

    Very entertaining if nothing else.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rust? Screws? FWC Hawks?

Yes, they run crosswise (port to starboard) and are what the camper sits on in the bed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rust? Screws? FWC Hawks?

2017 FWC Swift. Yeah, all the screws holding the side window are rusted... 3 months in my environment. Coastal sea breezes, so I'm not surprised, just disappointed in some of the corners being cut with production. Replacing them all with stainless screws. As soon as the summer dry season arrives...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Forgot to latch

Right on. The engine training I received as a FF1 became an invaluable asset, I still do the GC as a matter of habit.

Got your message, will keep in touch. Should be able to ship them today or tomorrow.

Appreciate your interest, in commo with Wyo1 and will honor his wish to have them.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fold over couch bracket.

18 inches is the length of the bar. Would you like a pair of these brackets? I removed the fold over couch from my Swift and have the brackets, will happily part with them for the cost of the shipping.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Long time lurker now a member

Congratulations, we got our new Swift just this past December. I too am letting go of the hardshell kayak, it's a bit too much to deal with up top. The old Folbot Kodiak that's been sitting in the bag for too long now will get dusted off and taken along into the Oregon Cascades this summer.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tie down question.

The simple process of removing the lower jack plate mounting bolts and re-tightening them caused the lag screw to strip out. The wood material at the corners is not what I consider to be sound or very strong. I replaced the relatively short lags with longer ones and very gingerly tightened them...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Swift

Any ideas about where to get a sliding window for the front of the camper? When I got my '17 Swift the dealer was emphatic that FWC doesn't and won't install one at the factory, citing leakage problems, which I can completely understand. I'm willing to deal with such an inconvenience for the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Game On! Let the adventures begin

Congratulations on the new rig! Had our Swift for close to 6 months now and are just getting ready for it's maiden voyage. We're in a holding pattern, waiting for the same storm to roll past before we head up and over through Tahoe on our way to the Southwest.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Installation Scheduled! Any questions I should Ask FWC

May I suggest writing down your questions ahead of time and having the list ready. You mentioned the solar pre-wire, and that you'll be doing your own system: Be shown specifically where the controller is to go, get a clear explanation the connectors being used and where the pre-wiring is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC solar connector

For what it's worth I'm still trying to sort out the pre-solar wiring in my 2017 Swift. Behind an under-cabinet panel for a solar controller are a pair of 'WAGO' terminals, one (red) positive, one (black) negative which lead to the roof and back wall exterior panel connectors. FWC explained...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swift camper tie downs - Tacoma Composite bed.

Preparing to have my new Swift installed, I was expecting to have a struggle loosening the bed bolts on the new 2017 Tacoma. To my surprise it took minimal effort to break them loose, I used only a short cheater pipe on the breaker bar. At installation the dealer used thread locker on the bolts...
