RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Some hawk dimensions (esp. superduty models)?

Another thing I did was add ratchet straps to the the front cleat that's in the stock bed. As our son said when he was little and was asked if he wanted pie or cake... why not both? I've seen a couple pictures of campers that slid out, gotta be a worst nightmare. I even welded up some brackets...

Looks pretty good pods. I ended up just doing rectangular ones for the front, and one hole. One thing I did was use a router and grinder to cut the thickness where the ends go on those bed rails. Otherwise I think the bed would get pulled down, and you'd have much less surface contact. At least...

Nice idea, that should work really well. The aluminum bed probably isn't much stronger than the plywood the camper anchor is mounted in, so makes sense to use the same system.

Thanks for the offer. I ordered some aluminum blanks to cut myself, not quite as big as yours. I like the idea of spanning to the bed support beam though, so will do that. I agree that the little FWC plates seem too small. What's your thinking on the 3 holes? Wasn't sure what the other 2 were for.

Did you make those backing plates? They look nice. I'm about to move my Grandby to a Super Duty and am trying to figure out the same things.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Intro and Solar Install Help

You're welcome. I'm not sure where you're coming from, but the "dealership" in Bozeman isn't what most would think of when they picture that. It's not much of a "they," really just Steve, in his shop out in the country. Not actually in the town of Bozeman. But he's been doing it a while, even...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Intro and Solar Install Help

If you're getting your camper in Bozeman, I'll bet Steve (owner, real nice guy) there would install it. When I got my camper there he said he'd done a lot of them. Advantage of having him do it is he'd know the FWC wiring. I don't know if he's familiar with the Victron stuff, and of course he's...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Propane Alarm

I've had that happen with our 2018 Grandby a couple of times and was wondering about it also. I couldn't smell gas either, but after leaving the back door open a couple of minutes the alarm stopped. The second time it happened, it would turn off after the back door was open, but the alarm would...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New cubby made from wasted space

Thanks for the response Zirdu. That's interesting, maybe mine's (built this January) a little different than yours. In the cubby area mine has the pair of wires from the roof solar plug, the pair of wires from the rear plug, and then the pair of wires going to the battery, all in two connector...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New cubby made from wasted space

Pretty cool! Definitely a better use of the space, very nice. When you put the Victron controller in the battery cabinet, did you pull the wires (the ones that connect to the solar plugs on the roof and back) that were in this little cubby down to the battery compartment? I'm interested in doing...
