RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking for more storage

One thing I did to achieve more storage was to remove the water heater and furnace. I find the added storage space and weight reduction much more beneficial than a couple appliances that I rarely used. I saved the appliances for easy re-install in case I change my mind or to boost resale. I...

Problem solved! I tried grounding one of the wires I cut and everything works again. Thanks so much for the support!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Electrical issues after furnace removal

I didn't cut the wires at the same time. tried cycling the circuit breakers. One of the two wires i cut does have an inline fuse, which is still attached to the furnace. Vic, are you suggesting splicing a length of wire to one of the wires I cut to ground it? I'm liking your theory that I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Electrical issues after furnace removal

Hi all, I decided to permanently remove the furnace from my 04 Granby. I disconnected and capped the propane line and cut the two wires connected to the unit. I was pleased with my newfound storage space until I realized that most of the electricity in the camper no longer worked (no power to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper removal with no jacks

David, Thanks for putting so much thought into this. I do have a good spot to store it but it’s paved so digging out won’t be an option. I’m with you thinking about safety and stability while the camper is off the truck especially because there are kids at the house where I would be storing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper removal with no jacks

David, Yes. I have unloaded and reloaded at home. I think i see what you’re getting at here and, yes the suspension is flexing quite a bit meaning I will have to lift the camper quite high to get it off.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jacks Available if traveling in Mexico

Hey MCW, Just saw your post about camper jacks. I’m down in Oaxaca and would love to unload my four wheel camper for the 2 months we are here. I know it’s a long shot but maybe you know someone in the area or are by chance headed this way. We passed trough Guanajuato last month and absolutely...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper removal with no jacks

Hey all. Thanks for the suggestions. To clarify, I’m already in Oaxaca, I won’t need access to the camper while it’s off the truck, and i have the standard corner jack mounts on my camper. I emailed the guys at over lander oasis for some local advice (thanks old crow). I agree that having the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper removal with no jacks

Hey all. Anyone have ideas on how I can remove my camper without corner jacks. I am traveling in Mexico and posting up in Oaxaca for the next few months. Wanting to remove the camper so I can get the truck painted and navigate easier through narrow city streets. We left our corner jacks at home...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

If your circuit breakers seem fine the next step would be locating the converter (note, this is different from the load center). Mine was located behind the two monitors where you would see the green lights. Once I removed the two monitors I was able to reach in and pull the 30 amp fuse on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

Woot woot! New 30 amp fuse (83 cents!) installed and everything works again! Stoked to get this sorted out and couldn’t have done it without your help!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

Wuck, yep, now I see the screws. I reached in and loosened them a touch. I’m hoping I don’t need to fully remove them to insert the new fuse. Hopefully the only thing I damaged is the old fuse!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

Sweet. 30 amp fuse located! I’m not sure if it was blown cause it broke when I removed it. I’ll find a replacement and see what happens.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

Thanks Old Crow. That’s exactly what I have. I was thinking the idp-30 was the converter. I’ll investigate further and let you know what I find. I really appreciate the support.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

Thanks ClimberRob. I think we are onto something. I do in fact have power at my 120v socket inside the camper when I’m connected to shore power. It appears to be the only thing in the camper that works with shore power. I’ll take a look for the “hidden” onboard fuse inside the iota. Also, if it...

If you mean pushing the “test” and “reset” buttons, yes I have tried that.

Thanks for the reply. I tried flipping the breaker switches multiple times and wiggled / re-attached the exterior plug. Still nothing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shore power not working

Proud new owner of a used FWC (an 04 Grandby). When I plug it in to shore power nothing happens. Everything works fine on the dc auxiliary battery. The extension cord and house socket I’m using work fine. No blown fuses, no tripped circuits, all wiring seems to be connected. The previous owner...
