RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help please with Victron Orion tr smart 12-12-30 dc-dc charger

Hi Jack, Thanks for the reply. When you mention connecting the negative “line” to chassis ground, are you referring to connecting the negative 6g lead from the truck battery leading to the charger to chassis ground? Or negative line(s) from victron unit in the camper to truck chassis?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help please with Victron Orion tr smart 12-12-30 dc-dc charger

Hello, Need a little electrical/electronics help please. I have installed a Victron tr smart isolated 12-12-30 dc-dc charger in my camper. I have used 6awg throughout, I’m using two Life Blue 100AH batteries. The input voltage at the charger is constantly varying with the truck running 7ish...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Abs problem

Running BF Goodrich K02’s 10ply. No odd sway or abnormal body roll that I sense and definitely not feeling like I’m going into any given turn too fast. It’s pretty unnerving when the brakes engage.

Hello all, I’m looking for a little help with a suspension? Problem. I have a 2015 Tacoma crew cab non trd, Four Wheel Fleet camper. Dobinsons heavy suspension front/rear and airbags. Airbags inflated to 20 or so pounds if loaded for a trip. The problem I’m having is that when going through...

Hi all, I just installed a Victron Orion tr smart DC-DC charger in my 2017 Fleet. Can anyone out there share the correct settings for the unit? I’m charging 2 100AH lithium batteries. Cheers

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Maxx Air Fan

Bird skier, Is there a solvent that you used to remove the last bit of dicor? I’ve noticed that acetone softens the roof paint and starts to remove it if left on too long. I’d like to avoid using it. Did you lay 2x? across the roof to work off of? Thx.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Maxx Air Fan

Hi all, I’m hoping to get a little clarification of the MaxxAir installation. Some have referred to the changeover from fantastic to be “drop in”. The thread also includes discussion about butyl tape, screw holes... Someone mentioned leaving the old frame in place. Drop in to me, means using...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery and Charging upgrades.. "Advice Please"

Thx Jack, What components did you use to build your battery? Anything you’d do different? I’ve been thinking about building one (or two).

My battery cabinet, 2017 Fleet front dinette is located to the left, just inside the door. Interior dimensions are 22”Lx8”w x 12 7/8”h (H as dictated by door opening) at the front of the cabinet, height is limited to 10.5” for about 3” of the length. I thought I had the door opening width...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery and Charging upgrades.. "Advice Please"

Hi and thanks for the reply, very helpful about the Blue Seas, that'll free up some space too. I actually made a cardboard mock up of a bigger battery, cabinet dimensions are ok but when you try to angle it in through the access, (door removed) sadly it's a no go.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery and Charging upgrades.. "Advice Please"

Hi all, I'm doing a few more modifications to my 2017 FWC Fleet front dinette electrical system. (it sits on a 2015 Tacoma) As it stands I have changed the solar controller to a Blue Sky Solar boost 3000I, I have 3 100 watt Renogy rigid solar panels on the roof. I went to the bother of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof lift gas struts

FWIW Suspa gas springs are way overpriced. I just bought a new set from Gemini gas springs in Canada. Ordered from US. About 25% of what the Suspas cost. $160ish ca? for four.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Turnbuckle Fiasco Averted ....FWC facebook page

I installed the newer fwc tie down system made of plate steel in the composite bed of my 2015 Tacoma. The plates run across the bed, front & rear and are held down by the bed bolts into the truck frame. I have had no problems with this setup.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing an inefficient Zamp solar kit with a Overland kit

Plus one to what Rogue Juan said. The customer service at FWC is very poor. Based on my experience with our 2017 Fleet, I’d say their quality control is slipping. It gives you a pretty lousy feeling when you feel that you’ve bought a premium product, have multiple problems with it then...

Plus one to what Rando said a few pages back about getting Away from Attwood/Dometic junk. 2017 Fleet, total of 12 gallons through water heater and the circuit board failed on a trip (apparently this is a known issue). As a bonus Attwood customer service was a royal PITA to deal with, I finally...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC roof load problem

I lifted my roof with a solar panel and two paddle boards on top, total weight 85lbs-ish, and found it possible but too difficult for me to want to do on a regular basis. My poor assumption here was that most owners remove all but the solar panel before lifting the roof. My thoughts and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC roof load problem

Wallowa, I basically agree. I’m not unhappy with our fwc. There are just things that can clearly be done better, fwc constantly improves things over time. It would cost nothing to move the Yakima tracks outboard, above the wall for a huge gain in load support. Can anyone chime in with a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC roof load problem

Sorry for your trouble, You’ve found what I consider to be the Achilles heel of this camper. The design of the roof it seems, cannot deal with much point loading. Unfortunately you don’t have to do much Googling to find others that have damaged their roofs. With what you are trying to carry...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate uses for jack brackets

With knowledge of the inherent weakness of the roof design, this coming spring I’m going to fabricate an aluminum roof rack system that will bear all weight on the jack brackets. The rear cross member will be behind the rear of roof the so that it will stay in place when raising the roof, the...

I’ve hopefully attached the Deka agm battery stats. Not all are the same, this is what fwc has been supplying. I understand Trojan batteries are a bit more robust also.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to FWC

Iota charge profile: I am seeing max bulk charging voltage at 14.7-14.8 volts, too much for agm. I have had a few conversations with techs at Iota engineering, they say this is within normal parameters for the IQ4 module and too much voltage for AGM batteries. They state that the IQ4 module is...

Hi BBZ, I set up our 2015 Tacoma four door long bed this last spring for a fwc Fleet front dinette. I worked with Mainline Overland to set up my truck and they were great to work with, I told them I didn’t want to cut any corners since I knew that I’d be quite a bit over the factory stated...
