RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Upgraded the rear window

I had the same experience as @pvstoy when I opened mine this morning. The butyl at the corners were exactly the same. I was about to send it back but just decided to pull it off. Only took a few mins, used the ball of butyl to clean up all the little bits of it clean. Then just added some 3M...

What was your tire pressure at? 35x13.50x15 Tires with that light of a rig you can probably go down to 10-15psi without any issues at all. That is really the only way to get through the washboard. I air down to 20psi on my F350 for long stretches for reference.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water intrusion

I'm not sure this is your issue, but I will just post what I figured out on mine. I pulled the black vinyl trim off, which exposed the screws holding the trim to the camper. I took out the screws and then pulled the trim. It appeared that water was getting in-between the trim and the aluminum...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma furnace install.... Amazing!

Weird, it appears they don't let you buy and install yourself? I'd like to stick to a propane furnace that doesn't sound like a rocket ship when it kicks on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Curtain Slide Type (Photo)

Hi All, I have a 2003 Hawk and was about to make some new curtains. I wanted to utilize the same sliders but I am unable to find the plastic glide tape style that will fit into the metal channels. Notice the style is an "I-Beam" cross section. Most the styles I am finding online are inverted...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Side Wing Wood Replacement

Well, I guess I'll document my findings for anyone in the future. I pulled a bit of the interior wall off to see if I could find where water was coming in from. After a rain I saw that the corner main support rail was wet. I decided to pull the exterior corner trim off completely and inspect...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Side Wing Wood Replacement

Hi @pvstoy, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I don't believe that is the cause for a number of reasons. Mainly due to the fact that the inside portion of the side wing is wetter / rotting faster than the outside. From what I can tell, it appears that the exterior trim that is held on by...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Side Wing Wood Replacement

Here's a pic of what I'm dealing with. You can see I patched it prior and resealed the rear window thinking it was the issue. Well, I was wrong. I've since pulled off the interior panel and insulation. I tried spraying the camper with a hose and of course, no water was found coming in. I'm...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Side Wing Wood Replacement

Hi All, I've found that the passenger side wing of my camper is rotting out pretty bad. I'm assuming that the leak is coming in from above through an external screw, dripping down the aluminum frame and then pooling up on the wood. My plan was to pull the interior siding and see if I could find...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another SOLAR question

You'll want to find the FWC solar charge controller and see what it is rated for prior to adding anything, but its probably rated higher by a fair amount than the stock panels. I would most likely add a duplex wire to the existing wires going to the charge controller so that the panels are in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Keeping Camper Centered

Hey All, Looking for some ideas on keeping the camper centered in the bed of my truck. Seems like after every offroad trip, the camper shifts all the way over to one side, and while it doesn't really matter, it just bugs me. I have a 2003ish Hawk on a 2001 Ford Super Duty. There is about a 2"...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SOK LiFePO4 100amp-hr Battery @ 0%

Just following up with this for anyone else... 1) I've discharged / recharged SOK battery 2x times now and the calculated capacity has not changed and cannot be manually set (from what I can tell). 2) Indeed my Solar charger was setup incorrectly. I assumed I just needed to set it to LiFePO4...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SOK LiFePO4 100amp-hr Battery @ 0%

@rubberlegs Thank you for your reply! Good to know that the SOC is a common issue on the BMS. Guess I'll just ignore it and monitor via voltage as usual. Thought it was cool to see the SOC like you would on your phone battery. Oh well. Got to admit I am still a bit "surprised" about it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SOK LiFePO4 100amp-hr Battery @ 0%

Well, it appears that the SOK manual states to re-calibrate the SOC, it requires it to be fully discharged and recharged 2X!? Seems weird to me. I was able to get into the settings and pressed "reboot" and nothing of course happened. I guess I'll try searching a bit on that and maybe sending an...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SOK LiFePO4 100amp-hr Battery @ 0%

Thanks Jon for your reply. Calculated capacity @ 278Ah - I hadn't even noticed that. I was browsing through the SOK manual but there doesn't appear to be a setting to reset it. I might try a factory reset of the BMS. Nice catch there... As far as charging goes, the Victron DC-DC charger is...

Hey All, Just got back from a trip to the Sierras for 4 days. This was our 3rd trip on our new SOK Lithium 100 amp-hr battery. On our final day, I woke up to absolutely no electricity. The SOK BMS app gave me the following screen shot. I had gone to bed last night with it at 68% and powering...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Airbags vs new leaf springs?

Airbags used to not be as dependable as they are now. If you have the camper on most the time, it will be best to add some extra spring for overall dependability, robustness and better ride quality. Airbags are good to add afterwards for fine tuning the ride dependent on load and terrain. My...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Screw replacement

That is very interesting, I have experienced the same results. I bought my 2003 Hawk in 2019 and 50% of the screws rusted within the first few months. My camper is quite a bit older, but I was experiencing the same thing. Swapped out a new sail switch and no change. If there was a charging source the heater would work fine. I finally gave up and added a small piece of tape to the sail switch and its been 100% problem free.

I finally went lithium myself but haven't actually received the battery yet. I read a lot of good things about SOK, so I went for it. Got the Bluetooth and integrated heater model... Of course the site I bought it from didn't say they were out of stock until April. I've got 2 T105s in great...
