Are you tired of reading about Utah trips? Me neither. Others have posted great photos so I'll keep it short and give just a few of my favorites, mostly camp sites.

1)Horseshoe Canyon trailhead camp
2)In the canyon
3)On the dirt road to Green River

More camping pics

1)Looking South at Comb Ridge off Hwy.95. This area is on my "to do" list.
2)Deer Flat Road camp site, much better than I captured in this photo.
3)Natural Bridges/White Canyon from Deer Flat camp
4)The saddle between Bear's Ears
5)Possible campsite on Bear's Ears road. Way exposed and next to road.

S'more camping

1)Lot's of camping along Deer Flat Road. We took this site at 4 miles in.
2)How big is big?
3)Waiting for either the flood or a 4X4 conversion kit from Advanced 4WD Systems.
4)Camped off Hole in the Rock road. Not far from Escalante. Was warned that the road is very busy, dusty and had extreme washboards. They were correct, but if I had more time...

Happy trails

We camped on BLM land backed up to Red Canyon on the west side. Wow!

Kolob Terrace Road, Zion NP

We didn't camp, but there is campground with 6 sites I believe. Only 1 was taken when we were there. Be sure to take this drive out of Virgin, UT.

Hello Nevada, goodbye $67

Nevada at 80mph out the side window. Oops. If you see officer Aranyos out on Hwy. 50 say "hey". He's camera shy, but real nice.

Lahontan State Rec. Area, Nevada

A pleasant find between Fallon and Carson City. The map at the check-in said campsites LD-1, LD-2, etc, but after we drove in the signs said Beach 1, Beach 2... We correctly proved our theory that you can camp basically anywhere at this site. Lots of space with beautiful beaches. We got there too late to explore much, but we didn't really need to. Snagged a great site right as soon as we quit trying to make sense of the signs. Drove from Springdale, UT to Lahontan in one day. We partied a little that night.

Nice photos.

I assume you didn
t see a log of other folks on this trip. Always good to boondock when possible. Keep it up and send more photos!

Will never tire of Utah...

Nice trip and choice of route. I made a note of Lahontan State Rec Area, for future reference. That place looks great too. Glad you 2 were able to get out & enjoy it all. $67 isn't too much of a price to pay.

Good one.

No we didn't see too many people except in the parks, and the ones we met were accommodating and nice beyond compare, like the lady at the Blanding Visitor Information Center who gave us the gift pack with soap and energy bars and toothpaste and maps and other goodies.
We made it a point to check in with the rangers in the parks and that's how we met Gordon at Natural Bridges. I called from Blanding to check on camping in the area and Gordon gave me a lot of useful information plus he informed me that he was making a dark sky presentation that evening. Natural Bridges is the darkest National Park in America and Gordon is their new Astronomy Ranger. Before dusk, the wife and I cooked our meal in the small parking lot, then Gordon entertained about a dozen of us with his lecture, we looked at Saturn through his telescope, and the wife and I headed off to the campsite Gordon had told me about. We didn't meet a lot of people, but the ones we talked to did everything they could to help us have a most enjoyable trip. Oh, except for that grouchy lady at Ruby's Inn gas station across the street from the Texaco in Bryce.

This doesn't surprise me a bit. Aside from just about everyone in Blanding being nice our experience in Utah is the folks on the west side of the Colorado are decidedly nastier than those on the east side.

Maybe its all those extra wives.

Even still we love going there.
