My Hawk is currently in the garage for winter storage. Walking around it to day I found a loose screw in the front trim, the up, over, up, over trim above the bumper. All the screws on both sides were loose. They all screwed in tight, so kind of interesting. No other screws were loose on the exterior. So lets see if I can upload a photo.

I now keep appropriate screwdrivers, spare screws, and a small tube of 3m4200 in the truck/camper for use on these screws when they back out on nasty roads.

I have tightened a few screws, particularly the door latch mechanisms. Almost exactly a year ago we got our new Hawk installed. While poking around in the cabinets after I drove it home I found a spray paint lid tucked in behind the MPPT solar charge controller that was filled with an assortment of 40 or so interior and exterior screws and a driver that fit them. So far I have not had to go screw diving but it is nice to know they are there if needed. I think my build was one of the last of the 2019 production and went on a transport to Portland immediately after New Years. I have imagined several scenarios that would explain how they got there.

Drive any washboard roads recently? A trip on Utah’s Hole in the Rock road did that on our Puma too

Two years ago we pounded out that HITR road....guess I need to check our fasteners! White Rim last March probably finished the job on any loosened screw...never thought of checking them...thanks for heads up.. Vic...how do you use the 3m 4200 on the screws?

OK...some of mine that I checked slightly loose...BUT what is the correct screwdriver size for these screws? Squares with slits in all four corners .. and where do you get these screws?

Thanks...Phil

["square 2"?]
Ps...Just talked to FWC and Arron said they are #2 screws .. 8 x1".

I have problems with those screws coming loose on my camper. They are going into the edge of the plywood floor pack and plywood doesn't do well holding screws in that direction. I took screws out and filled the holes with glue and toothpicks which seems to hold better.

#2 Robertson screwdriver will fit. Those screwheads are designed to accept either the Canadian "square" head screwdrivers or a Philips "Star" screwdriver bit.

My camper has the older? style of 1/4" socket head screws that are 3/4" long.

The loose ones I removed the screw entirely, added a dab of 3m to the threads, and re-installed the screw. There is usually a bit of excess that I smear around the head both to remove the "glop" and possibly to add a bit of weather seal. The one screw that fell out I did do the toothpick thing too, but used 3m instead of wood glue. No issues since.
