46 gallon Tundra tank

^ If you didn't get the bed liner coating then skid plate is a good idea for gravel travel (I now realise):

The odd this about this tank and the mounting is that a skid plate wouldn’t do any good. The bottom of the tank is super stout. The issue is when it gets hit from the bottom and pushed up, it breaks the nutserts

I had this tank on our Tundra, make sure you clean the inside of the tank out really good before install as ours was filthy inside! I applied undercoating to ours before install (crappy brand that I would do differently if I was to do it again). Overall the tank worked great and the extended range was awesome.

how do you find the straps provided? Others have said they are very weak? Maybe transfer flow has upgraded them???

Transflow provides the new straps with the tank. It’s not the straps that are weak, it’s how they mount to the frame that are weak.

I canceled my order for the 46 gallon tank, it’s just to much extra weight, wife and I decided we needed to stop every 3-4 hours anyway, I can always install the 46 gallon tank later, I’m also worried about the issue with how the straps mount to the frame and lack of a proper skid plate for protection since the 46 gallon tank hangs down lower than the stock tank, to many potential “issues” for me

I reached the same conclusion regarding the tank. Don't think I'll need it, and may be better to just add a couple jerry cans.

It sure would be nice if the tundra had a larger fuel tank, I’m not going to deny that

I put a 60 gal under our truck (not a Tundra & only option found), it comes OEM with a 35. It is not so much that we need that extra range as it is that now we can buy fuel where we want to instead of where we need to.

My 2017 Tundra SR5 TRD 5.7L engine came with a 38 gallon tank. The larger tank was part of the SR5 upgrade package, while the TRD package included engine and tank skid plates. Perhaps Toyota will sell the tank and skid plates or there's an after market option.
