Hi all, I have the Grandby in a 2000 Silverado 4X4 regular bed now. A prospective buyer has the 2006 short bed. Will it work? If so, what mods are necessary?

thx, steve

Measure the tailgate opening, I think it should work as I think it was 07 that Chevy narrowed the opening. But even if it fits seems like a less than ideal setup as it will stick out a foot and a half.

what brand of truck does the buyer of your camper have ?

ford, chevy, dodge, toyota, nissan ?

sounds like he has a chevy too, just double checking

if his truck bed is 6.0' feet or 6.5' feet long, it should be ok -- just leave the tail gate on and in the lowered position.

if he has a crew cab, full 4 door truck with the really short 5.5' foot bed, I would NOT recommend putting the Grandby model on it.

if he has a chevy, is it the older body style, or newer body style ?

(if his truck is actually a 2006, he should be OK)

have him measure the tail gate opening at the top, and the bottom.

he will need it to measure 60" at the top and 60" bottom.

if that is the case, the only difference will be the eye bolt location.

on the older model campers like yours, they usually put the front eye bolts all the way up forward in very front corners of the truck bed.

when putting a long bed camper on a short bed truck, most customers put the rear eye bolts in the truck bed as far back as possible, up against the side walls.

don't put the rear eye bolts in the tail gate opening, but just inside, around the corner, from the tail gate opening.

it is always best to do some measuring too !

if you have any questions, you can call Chicali out in our service dept.

he can tell you the exact measurement

(see sample pics attached)

these measurements are just an educated guess (since we haven't seen the actual camper)

hope this helps

Thanks, Stan. The prospective buyer has the 2006 Chevy. I've sent him your message and questions. He lives in Oroville and visited the Woodland location a couple of weeks ago. I'll post his answers as soon as I get them.

You have been so helpful over the years, all I can say is "Thanks Again".
