We headed south toward Baja but four intense days of rain and wind steered us East over to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument for a homecoming of sorts....once spent the winter there on a volunteer crew.

Managed to stay back country for several nights to savor the desert and hike a bit.

Next over to Anza Borrego State Park for more of the same.....dirt roads and a pretty good Desert Lily bloom.

Thence around the Salton Sea and up into Joshua Tree then Mojave National Preserve.

Finally into Death Valley.....great fun to enter the park from the south entirely on dirt roads.......

When we finally had to head north we drove 395 under the East Sierra up to Reno and then over the hump to 99 north to Redding. etc north

Lots of quiet time in the desert and a welcome relief from our vigorous winter on the North Oregon Coast

Did you see our "ruts" in the wash where we tried to cross the wash and get in from the south to the oasis? :)
Bummer about Baja and it seems like a lot of the West got "washed" out this year.

Hi Kevin

Were those YOUR ruts ? LOL

Sorry we did not cross paths...certainly another time.

Glad to hear you got to Playa Escondia....hidden beach.
