Any cactus experts?

What Dave said. I have some in my yard. Cut a leaf off and remove the skin. The pulp in the center is a natural antiseptic and will help wounds heal. I've tried it and it works ok, but not as good as store bought stuff. It works best on sunburn.

Aloe is correct, however, there are hundreds of varieties if you're looking for the specific name of it.

Take a leaf to a local nursery that sells lots of succulents.

Your photos don't show the edge features, such as, spike spacing, spike color, spike shape, etc. good enough for my wife who runs a succulent wholesale nursery to identify. Plus once I told her that you live in Sacramento, she said it's probably not one of the aloe varieties she propagates. That one is most likely a cold weather tolerant variety.

BTW, all cacti are succulents, however, NOT all succulents are cacti.
An aloe is a succulent, not a cacti.
It's tough for us novices to know much about these types of plants.
Way too complicated...

Thats in line with my Aunt the plant lady. I had a feeling someone was going to say thats not a cactus. Learn something new everyday. Aloe kind of makes sense. Probably planted by someone who wanted their own supply.
