Amazon has a decent buy on LaCie portable drives $163 for a 5TB drive. USB C for Mac and PC. Smaller drives are available.

As an aside, when I entered IT, we used top of the line Fujitsu 474MB drives that were $19,000 a copy. The controller was another $5,000. They formatted out to 400 MB.

Were those the packs that were occasionally washed to remove dust?

This was 48 years ago and I don't always remember what I had for lunch. We used a very dry compressed gas (CO2?) and rarely a specially treated cloth.
