Bed Side to Camper Gap Storage Utilization?

I have an 04 Grandby on an 05 F-250. My particular camper requires about a 4" platform to clear the cab safely. There is a massive and ugly gap from my bed side to where the camper kick out starts (80" wide part) Seems like opportunity to close this in and add storage.

This opens up an area that is about 96"x6" and 11" deep on each side. That a massive amount of room. Currently I use cable jacks to get the camper on and off so what ever I do would need to support the jacks for at least 3' or so.

Has anyone done this? I'm thinking box it in and maybe have the entire side hinge down and act like a shelf/table work surface. when open. The center section would need to be boxed to support the cable jacks so I might need 4 doors.

I have been thinking the same thing.....for several years.....

Depending on the dirt you drive you need to leave some room to allow for camper body flex.

We carry soft stuft in storage bags held by straps and footmen loops in that area.

It is a big space for some trucks.
