The My RV Works guy (Darren Koepp) recently put up the best YouTube video I've seen on how a KIB tank monitor works. "KIB" refers to the manufacturer, KIB Electronics of Elkhart, Indiana (now merged with American Technology Components, also of Elkhart).

I"m not sure if it's still the case, but for many years Four Wheel Campers put KIB monitors in their campers. The last I have a model-number for, it was the KIB M1106. But I've also seen photos of an FWC logo on a K-series-style panel layout.

In this video, Darren is working with a model designed to monitor not only fresh-water (and battery) but also monitor RV gray-water and black-water tanks. In any case, I believe the principles and measurements also apply to the M1106.

The video shows quite a bit of detail for those interested in how things work. And for those who suspect their monitor isn't working correctly, there's good info on how to isolate the problem.

RV Tank Monitor Panel Gives Bad Fill Level Information

(See the Show More info above the comments for links to the products in the video).

(Also: One of the important things Darren does here is provide a link to the manual. That manual includes good troubleshooting and wiring info. It also has a table showing the voltage ranges for the battery monitor portion of the monitor panel. Link to the manual )

PS-- if anyone has occasion to take out your monitor panel, please take a look for a model number and let us know what you find.
