Bodega Bay - January 2018

I enjoyed your report. Brings back good memories of a trip through there a few years ago, sans the Pliny sightings of course.

I'm still amazed that, after our recent trip to DV, by pure coincidence we ran into you two again. Going to have to keep better control of my beer, though. Hard to stealth camp when it is giving my location away.

What a cool surprise to happen upon old friends while out roaming--I guess great minds think alike.

Thanks for sharing. We loved Bodega Bay, camping would be awesome.
We are lucky Bodega Bay is within reach for a quick getaway for us. Thanks for the nice comments, John!

Ms. Tele, no we haven't, and it has been suggested to us many times. It is a nice spot, indeed.

We prefer the less attractive Westside because it allows us to walk away from our set up campsite to Bodega Head and also up the beach to Salmon Creek.

There is a lot of beach walking to be had on Doran but you can't get to Bodega Head without getting in the car.

I also kayak and besides the convenience of launching right there next to the mouth of the harbor at Doran I have put my boat in the water off the beach at dawn when it was so calm the water was not breaking - just kind of gently lapping up on the sand.

I have also camped at - is it Bodega Dunes?

For these activities Doran does look attractive.

Yes, the state park campground is Bodega Dunes.
