We went from Sacramento up into the area between Oroville and Bucks Lake over the weekend.
This is not the usual trip for us. This area is very close to home and is usually home to ATV'ers with toyhaulers. A very busy area. We figured that the recent wet weather would allow us a short overnight run without much company.
This is the suspension brige at Bidwell bar. It is the first suspension bridge in California. It was not originally built in this location but was disassembled and re-built in this location.
We drove along Four Mile Ridge road and went over into the French Creek area.
here are a couple of old k-tag shots from the area....
this is Jack Creek, a nice cold stream at this point.
we stopped for a while and i noticed this gnarly old tree....
i realized it is a Rhodedendron! its huge!
this dog really liked the creek
we were going to sit tite for the night but we started seeing more and more folks....i thought it would be best to leave the area as some of these were rif-raf, cranksters. so we bailed.
We drove back out onto the Oro-Quincy Hwy and continued toward Bucks lake. We decided to turn off and head down to Little North Fork campground and check it out.
one of the many waterfalls on the way..
we had a "amusing" drive down into this campground but upon arrival it was empty and beautiful.
we stayed the night.
We had a difficult time leaving the campground due to wet conditions and a steep hill. we had to use the winch to get out of the campsite.
We headed back over to the main road and continued up toward Bucks Lake.
We ended up here.....stopped by snow.
I turned the truck around and we stopped to take a look.
My wife mentioned how "someone was just here.....and they were wearing sandals.....i can tell because i see their toes!"
that got my attention....
hey Barb....those are bear prints!
Harvey the dog really likes snow!
we headed home and now we are ready fro another trip!
