I was looking to equip my Ranger with tie downs so when I can get a camper I could just go get it without having to worry about getting tie downs on just before I go. Yes, I'm sure I'm going to have to drive a ways for a used one.

Anyway, went to my local camper dealer. The only thing he had was some kind of a button system that mounted to the side of the box. Since the "tin" in these newer trucks has changed to "tin foil" would this be a very secure method for off roading with a pop up? Since Tork Lift does not make frame mounts for a Ranger would you go with the buttons or have some frame mounts custom made? I want to do this right. Thanks.

I would call:

Stan @ FWC

OR

Ben @ ATC

They can tell you where to mount the tie downs and sell and mail them to you. It would help them to know what model you are trying to get.

I ran those old exterior buttons on my original toyota/FWC rig and had no problems. They were heavily tested.

THe only minor problem was when the turnbuckles came loose( this WILL happen), it gave clip that attatches to the button the chance to fall off. Many was the time I found the clip dangling at the end of the free turnbuckle..

I have since mounted internally and it does ok.
