Colorado 285 or 160 campering help!? :-)

Need pretty place to spend the night (boondock, ideally) in my FWC Fleet / Tacoma - Denver to Valley of the Gods can be done in one day, but I wanna make for two short days, ideally with longer on the second day because it's crazy hot in VotG right now.

The East Fork Road about 10 miles north-east of pagos Springs has some very nice campsites. Decent campground at the start but up the road very nice boondocking. If you go in about 8 miles there is a road that splits off to the right into Quartz Basin that is beautiful and we were the only camp for miles by a rushing mountain stream.

I will SO be back there! Amazing! Shhh, don't tell anyone else! There were quite a few people there. I forgot to write about my hunter neighbors in my trip report! Nice guys. Started their generator when they got back early eve. I meandered over there with my lantern to inquire as to how long they planned to run the noisy contraption. "about half hour" We had a nice chat about bears. They were really nice. Kinda bummed didn't get to chat with them another eve.
