Your own rule is nick names must be decided around the campfire. Therefore, I challenge my new name. Besides that, I wasn't lost. Though it did seem like I was crossing the Pacific in some of those low sections.
Geeze Ted talk about ratting yourself out. You should have kept mum and the rest of us would have thought you got the name because you're the pathfinder. Now its yours forever.
An old Navy rule is to never challenge your call sign, or suggest one, it'll only make it stick harder.
Many moons ago a fresh, cocky new pilot came into our squadron expecting to be assigned a crappy call sign and he said indignantly "call me whatever you want, i don't care, you can call me 'Dog Balls' for all I care".
Guess what his call sign is. I kind of like Magellan.
Our callsigns in the AF at NKP were "Nimrod XX" the XX being last 2 numbers of the aircraft tail number...We weren't thrilled about it, but It stuck for the duration.
Feel lucky Ted...very lucky. BTW I voted at the campfire....
For the record, I knew where we were on the map. I just chose poorly, trying to take a route the camp host suggested not to use. My wife said something about my being just like my father. Ouch!
Marc,
This is actually the third one DD has bestowed upon me. I didn't notice at first either, until my wife pointed it out to me. He did confess the whole story about your handle this weekend after a couple of beers.
Bob,
You were there this weekend voting around the campfire??? How'd I miss that? You sure Diego wasn't voting in absencia for you?
