We decided to take a quick over-nighter at Doran State Beach in Bodega Bay as our maiden trip. This was my second night in the camper (besides first night at a rest stop from picking up the camper) and my wife's first time.

Its been raining for weeks and the sky finally started to clear. I had every intention to get there before 6 pm but the 2 hr drive turned to 3.5 hr drive due to some really bad traffic in SF and also on the 101 from Marin all the way to Petaluma.

A beautiful full moon as we crossed over the Golden Gate Bridge

We finally made it!

It was a beautiful clear night with the sound of the fog horn near by. My wife and I having beers by the fire and smiling to ourselves because camp setup was so freckling easy after chowing down on some fire roasted sausages and peppers.

It started to rain again in the morning and we were glad to be in our camper. We both slept okay despite the much to be desired stock mattress. We'll be upgrading to 3'' memory foam before our next trip.

The dogs ready for their morning walk.

Because it was cold, winding rainy outside I made coffee inside the camper using my jet boil. Afterwards, we decided to pack it up and head into town for some hot food.

We headed down to the water front and got some really good chowder and crab sandwich at http://www.yelp.com/biz/spud-point-crab-company-bodega-bay. To our surprise this was the best chowder we had ever had...better than Sam's in HMB and Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach.

Our way back after checking out the cliffs at Bodega Head State Park.

Overall, it was a great first trip. Everything went as planned. Looking forward to our next trip. :D

glad you enjoyed you break in trip.

i agree with you on the mattress i can not figure why
the factory can not have at least a option for this item,
have they never slept in their own product?
i know the first time my wife slept in ours she said
if we did not get a decent mattress it would be the
last time she slept in it.

enjoy.

Thanks for sharing your historic first trip! We know the area well, and unfortunately the realities of heading north out of the bay area. It is fun to be the smallest among the huge land yachts in a campground. We are having more fun, aren't we? Best wishes for more adventures with your new camper!

Congratulations on the new camper! We picked up our Grandby at the Woodland factory on December 21st and took it south to the Chuckwalla Mountains the day after Christmas for its maiden trip. It proved to be everything we'd hoped for and more. It was nice to be able to get out with no one else around. Wishing you many wonderful trips in the coming years! Happy New Year!
