Starting to plan a trip around 4th July week, I know the crowds will be out. Has anyone been to June lakes area, or Saddlebag lake? Should these be avoided due to the 4th?
Right now I was thinking of doing a day to trip to Saddlebag lake, has anyone fished this lake?

I would imagine both of those locations would be extremely busy during that time. I’ve Never fished saddlebag but there are some nice hikes around there.

Last time I fished Saddlebag, there were a bunch of shore fishermen throwing out power-bait to stocked trout. I wasn't inspired.

However, if you are willing to hike the two miles? to the back of the lake, there are beautiful small streams for fly fishing. About half a mile more is a nice lake beneath Conness and North Peak. It's a spectacular location.
