Looking at the map, that is in familiar rough terrain. Yesterday, around 5 as I was leaving Grass Valley, a small wildland fire was taking off on the east side of 49 on the south end of town. This will be a scary year.

Indeed it will. At least no fires are burning near Antelope Lake yet. Packing up for my annual trip now. I won't be surprised if they go so far as to ban campfires even in improved campgrounds. Forecast is 100 plus temps where I'm going, probably not much less for most of the state. Checking Yubanet it looks like most of the small fires have been contained so far.

Me thinks that many of our favorite places will suffer that fate sooner than later this year!
