Here's a nice article from Gundog Supply about fireworks and the impact on dogs. Even dogs that are used to shotgun fire can be frightened by fireworks.

These folks are pretty good sources for dog training materials.

On this subject, a friend of mine just went to Fred Meyer's pharmacy to pick up a prescription for doggie downers for one of their two dogs, in prep for the patriotic explosions -- some early ones which are already making the nervous little dog extra nervous.

Every few years, we get visits from dogs apparently frightened by the noise In our usually quiet area. Must be very confusing to the dogs.

Bob does not like the fourth, thunder, guns shots of any type. When we are home he hides behind my lazy boy; in the field the front part of the pop-up! He shakes and I have to talk to him and pet him to calm him down.
