It’s been one year since the purchase of our Grandby. We have been on several great trips and we couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I have been dialing in a few mods to make camper life easier and more enjoyable. This project goal was to make the seat back so it would stay in position without falling over during travel. Being a retired carpenter fixing/improving things is genetic. My plan was to use industrial Velcro. This would form a bond that still would allow the seat back to be removed easily.
2” industrial Velcro with adhesive back rated for 10 lbs purchased at a local home store. I remove the back stop structure and applied the Velcro running the screws through the Velcro to help it stay in place. I wrapped it around the back and stapled it also. The adhesive backing was very sticky and formed a nice bond on its own.
Back stop structures reinstalled being careful not to over torque and strip the holes.
Hook portion applied to the seat back using the adhesive back and 3/8” staples.
Fingers crossed ready to fit and test.
Velcro grabbed the seat back as I hoped and could be removed.
We prefer that the seat cushion be placed under the seat back. The Velcro keeps the seat back elevated for easy removal of the seat cushion.
This also makes it easy to access the bottom storage compartments. Now no fumbling around with the seat back. Looking forward for our next trip with the new modification in place. Be safe all!
