Front View Mirror?

My truck has great side mirrors -- I can see everything looking backwards. But the other day I had to pull into a driveway with a steel post on either side -- only about 24" - 30" tall. There was just no way I could tell where my right front fender was in relation to the post. I had to get out, walk around, and look.

So my question is, has anyone ever rigged a mirror facing forward and down off of the trailering side mirror? Maybe clamping a bicycle mirror onto the support? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Go to the back of any post office or wait for your mail person to deliver mail to your street, and look over the mirrors on their LLV's (Long Life Vehicle), the delivery van/truck. They have a lot of mirrors all over the vehicle.

And, ditto on what the Sage says... do you need it often?

Aha!! Thank you. Maybe after I am totally experienced (and have a few dings to prove it) I will not need it. But right now I need all the help I can get.
