FWC model names by year ; input requested

The Camper Names thread prompted me to look up the FWC model names shown in NADAGuides... just out of curiosity.

The names below are reportedly the ones supplied by FWC but I don’t know if that’s true or there’s some combination of manufacturer-supplied data and analyst data when it comes to model names.

Nevertheless, if owners of the older or rarer models would take a look for yours and post or send me any corrections, I’ll pass them on to Stan, hopefully to be included in the next iteration of updates and corrections. Also, pre-1980 names would be nice to see. And of course any other comments are also welcome.

Also- I’m not sure the presence of a name means there were actually any campers produced that year under that name. For instance, this appears to say Falcons were produced from 2002 to 2012. I don’t think that’s the case but may simply mean Falcons could be ordered in any of those years.

Thanks, Terry. I'll include it. Also, for anyone curious about the Kestrel, here's an interesting thread on it.

Anybody know what the DK is in Ranger II DK (1994) or the S in Fleet-S (1988)?

Thanks, Seth. I'll pass it along. That suggests there's also an Eagle in '98 and I did indeed find several posts on here suggesting that's the case.

Thanks, Missing Link! Yeah, that 89 list looks suspiciously short, doesn't it? I bet there are others. Your post led me to find a few tidbits about an 89 Fleet in this thread. I was wondering about the difference between the Fleet I and Fleet II and this gives us a clue (but it's not completely clear.) That thread also reminds us some of the earlier models were installed by bolting through the bed.

I see the Blazer model extending all the way to 1998. However, it is my understanding that the Blazer model production stopped somewhere between 1984 and 1985. I happen to have a 1984 Blazer FWC on my 1972 Chevy K5 Blazer.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we can get some clarification. I've been unable to find anything on the web to contradict your understanding but then again many of the posts I found don't mention or don't know the year of the camper.

The NADAGuide listing in post 1 shows Flat Bed models in 2015 and 2016. According to this announcement from Stan and this article in Truck Camper Magazine, they started in 2013 and models were Fleet, Hawk, and Grandby.

That TCM article mentions a build for a Mitsubishi Fuso underway at the time. This thread points to a very interesting article on it at Truck Camper Magazine. (link to article)



As far as model name, it's called a 'custom Four Wheel Camper' or 'the Fuso Four Wheel Camper' and has a model year of 2013.

This thread from January 2010 describes the prototype and includes a Truck Camper Magazine interview (and more photos of the one above).

In the article Tom says the HT option is available for the mainstream models except the Falcon.

And this thread from November 2013 notes the demise of the Hard Top option.
