OK, "Death Valley HOT Day" isn't what it's officially called...but today is the 100th anniversary of the world-record hottest temperature -- hit at Death Valley, and festivities are planned to commemorate.
Wish I could be there...it's forecast to be a balmy 118°.

I read in the paper today that the park service had to ask people to stop trying to fry eggs on the paths and ground. They were leaving a tremendous mess.

But, it's a..........................

I spoke to a friend who resides in the Phoenix suburbs last night. He mentioned a high of 119 one day in the last week or two. He said you might not think there's a lot of difference between, say, 114 and 119, but apparently there is PLENTY of difference.

Y'all can HAVE that stuff. I do enjoy experiencing weather/temp extremes, but living in it, no thanks.

We had seven days of 105 and above last week. Topped out at 112. Sure, it is a dry heat. But so is an oven. Some of our plants look cooked. Then again, tomatoes are ripening and jicama is going gangbusters. Back down to a balmy high 90's this week.
