Howdy,
Has anyone installed a fan in a Dometic non fan roof vent ?

I recently purchased the fan and motor assembly only to realize that I need some sort of mounting plate for the motor "bow tie" frame and of course the fuse and switch.

This is to add a fan to a FWC (Dometic) roof vent in our 2019 Grandby.

Appreciate any experience or insights.

Regrettably, I am almost positive the bow tie bracket is not sold separately. Here is the assembly with it … etrailer.com also carries it. Sorry I can not offer any more mount info w/o it.

Check out 2 threads for variable speed control.

See my brief posts #37, 38 & 39. Important to Note the very long, varied, detailed reference link on post #37 that originally enabled my install. When you reference this link, then Note my post #89, it describes an electrical issue you might encounter when wiring whatever control you choose to use. I had wiring issues with the front vent positioned over the pullout bed. No issues with the rear vent.

Thanks for the info....will read it all now.

I did buy the fan, motor and bow tie bracket as an assembly.... :)

I think I only need to source a fuse holder and a switch.

Has anyone ordered the variable speed control for a Fantastic fan lately ?

We had a fantastic fan installed over our bed and the plain vent over the bed (2014 Grandby) and this past October had Juniper Overland install a MaxxAir Fan with the rain cover over the kitchen area. It was a straight forward installation.

If you have the direction control switch included with your kit, install it & leave it in place. You can then switch between clockwise & C-clockwise. Then use a speed controller, something like this, it looks a lot like the one I used.

Howdy

I think the fine print for the speed controller says it never shuts off entirely....and I don't have a reversing switch with a neutral "off"position.....nowhere to mount it if I had one.

Thanks
